Yes but he inherited a 7th placed team and he's doing worse than the guy who got them to that 7th place
Moyes with 200M is way better than LVG with 200M. He should be gutted not to receive major funds.
I might be wrong on this one, but I think Moyes had more time to prepare with the team then LVG because of the WC. I'd say we can judge at the end of the season.
SAF chose Moyes for a reason, he deserved time. With the funds LVG has at the moment, Moyes would definitely have succeeded
Moyes is better for now,but wait for end of the season...Maybe LvG needs some time.
Neither of them looks good... but I have more faith in LVG. Because:
Under LVG
Under Moyes:
They both have problem using Rooney and find the right architect in the midfield (a true creative AMF with vision and know how to boss the mid, not a converted one like Rooney despite very high work rates).
LVG needs time i think.Maybe from January he can do something better. And if Man.Utd will not be in TOP 4 again this season, well i think only Ferguson can bring back the ''old United''!
Those stats are meaningless. Moyes football was an eyesore. Anyone with a brain cell could see utd made a huge mistake.
Many players have left utd this summer so Van Gaal had to bring in players. If they sign 2 quality CB they will qualify for CL easy.
Moyes constantly looked like he had absolutely no idea what he was doing.
@Wolfie agreed 100%. Not to mention the amount of injuries and suspensions we've had this season.
Even though Moyes is a mid table minded but in his defense I must say that he has been unlucky that such players like Di Maria, Falcao, Herrera and more were not available and he is not used to spend much money at big clubs because he was never managing any before. I think those stats are not on Van Gaal's side after spending this much and boosting the team completely. A top 4 finish is a must for him and he is yet to deliver at Manchester United. If Van Gaal failed to finish the season on top 4 to qualify for Champions League next season I expect him to get sacked by the board.
Yes but Van Gaal is trying out different things. Moyes tried like 2 tactics, neither of which worked. Van Gaal is experimenting the use of different formations and players so what do you expect? Wins straight away? No.
With players like Di Maria Moyed would have done better. And one fact to add, last United away win was 05.04.14 in Newcastle.

Agree with tuan. But also have to be said that Moyes didn't get 150m (or 200m inc. Falcao - I think they have alrdy negotiated for buying him) warchest, that's a BIG factor.
Rojo is injured and might be out for six weeks .... So, I say Van Gaal dropped the bigger ball when he decided not buy more defenders and his management of injuries is not better than Moyes .
Lets compare stats at the end of the season. Van Gaal has been unlucky with major injuries and a lot of players which affected the team overall despite the ton of cash spent reacently.
Moyes got SAF's 1st place squad
Van Gaal got Moyes 7th place squad
and just like Wolfie said, It isnt hard to realice Moyes football was just boring and emotionless...
IMO, I don't see why people are making the excuse - "Moyes had a better squad" and so on. Van Gaal got the almost same squad except for some minor differences like the subtraction of some defenders. After he got Manchester he also did some valuable transfers and he is trying out some new tactics, but he is clearly supposed to be doing better than Moyes did and the excuse that Moyes knew nothing about tactics is also invalid because he clearly knew how to win a couple of games.
^lets compare them at the end of the season.
Emotionally and mentally, getting a 7th place squad is very different from getting a winner team.
If you compare both teams only with stats you cant really see the difference between them. You actually need to watch both teams Moyes' and Van Gaal's, to notice certain major differences.
Well maybe Moyes did not know jact sh*t about football , but still did better than LVG . So it is little embarrassing for LVG . Hence he also spent close to 200 million pounds on transfers , but still did not solve back four problem .
Can't remember who said it : " It is like sending your friend to a store for bread and milk and he comes back with chocolate and whisky , it is nice but completely not what you need it."
Both failed on transfer market but at least Moyes did not spent anything close to 200 million . Well United fans are more patient with LVG . I guess , Easier to blame the guy who came from Everton and has never won a trophy before United.

LVG has his own vision and philosophy of building a football club unlike Devid Moyes.
