<http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2013/09/29/4297153/moyes-united-not-good-enough-to-win-champions-league>

So I just read this article, and seriously wtf is wrong with Moyes. He says the Manchester United is not good enough to win the champions league. So that's it, everyone goes on vacation, we give up. What the legit fuc.k?
He's saying that we need more world class players to even compete in the cl. He's just given up.
As if borussia dortmund, was made up of world class players from that start (yes I know..... but still). Stop making lame excuses and complaining about your own team. Common step up your game moyes or leave, nuff said. Sorry for the rant guys.

No, you're absolutely right. The United morale is low already because they're 12th place in the table now, and Moyes just made it worse by saying that Madrid, Barca, and Bayern have "five to six world class players" and United only have "a few at that level or close to it".

That's not how a manager should respond. If United want to conquer Europe, they must first conquer themselves. If they can have self-confidence in their abilities, they can do the impossible.

Alex Ferguson never gave up and walked down the tunnel in '99 when United were a goal down to Bayern with 3 minutes remaining. He was there, standing by his team, and confident that they could recover the match and win the cup. So why should Moyes give up with the entire season still ahead of him?

1 month and 20 days ago I said this on The "Unpopular Opinion" thread before the season even start:

David Moyes will not succeed at Manchester United this season. Manchester United fans should know that it's kinda impossible for him to do what Sir. Alex did, Not to mention that many key players has retired or released after Sir. Alex. It's going to be a tough season for Moyes and for Manchester United fans. I have a deep respect for Manchester United. If the board won't be patient with Moyes I can see him getting sacked before the end of the season. I know it's too early to say that but this is how I feel about it.

So, Would Manchester United fans or the board be patient or not? That's the question.

David Moyes quotes from that link:

**"To win the Champions League you have to have five or six world-class players," Moyes told reporters after his side's surprise 2-1 Premier League loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

"If you look at Bayern Munich, they have five or six really world-class players and, to win it, you might have to have that in your squad.

"Look at Barcelona, who had it in the past, and Real Madrid have maybe got it now.

"That's the level you have to get at to win it. We've not got that yet. What we have got is experience and several players who are in that category or close to it."

**How does he expect the players and fans to react to this? Even his quotes on Rooney's transfer saga was not that intelligent either.

Bit disappointed with Moyes actually, that he's said this. But you can't possibly only blame him for everything. Lately, our players have been looking really sluggish and yes, it's up to the manager to give them that extra push but let's be real. They're not kids. They're professional football players. If you need a manager to give you motivation, you shouldn't be playing at all However, what I will say and I will say over and over again is that we have to stick with Moyes til the end and him, with us. Yes, he's been a little disappointing in the transfer market but are we seriously gonna sack him for not buying players in his first window with the new club? I guarantee you he'll sign a big player in the winter transfer window when he's got an idea of who needs to come into the club. We're not going to be like all the other clubs, sacking manager when they have a bad streak. Criticizing Moyes won't help him at all. Just be patient. What's more is that the Premier League is starting to get really competitive where you see the likes of Cardiff, and Southampton being above United in the table although it is still early days. It's a new era in the Premier League where clubs we saw as no threat to the title race, or Champions League spot has suddenly become something to look out for. Moyes has just been really unlucky so far and I'm sure if we give him 2 seasons, he'll start to show he means business.

Even though Moyes is being a little unintelligent about the way he's been talking to the media, he's right. He hasn't given up on the CL, he just knows that United won't win it. Which is something the whole world knows too, so don't overreact United fans. Worry about your domestic league before you worry about Europe.

It seems to me as if he is justifying already for a future lose in the UCL... Having the manager saying this about the team is worst than having him losing a couple of matches, any manager can have bad starts with their teams and then be criticized because of bad performances but saying the team is not strong enough and therefore they dont have a chance to win the UCL is just unacceptable. If this is true and he really said/meant that then Im officially against Moyes management and not supporting him or his project at United...

quoting one of United's most famous phrases: "Its all about belief"...
If he doesn't believe in it then how are we supposed to even win it?

You dont really need that many world class players to win tittles you just need a good team rather than individual skill, RM and many other teams have had very powerful teams with individual greatness but have been defeated by teams not by individual players.

Honestly, don't hit me, United fans, but hes kind of right.

Part of SAF's genius was in taking a team that was not packed with star talent in the same way as City and Chelsea, and STILL winning the league and reaching CL finals. Rooney, Vidic and RVP are world-class, but, I think you'd have trouble applying that term to anyone else on the squad (at least, players that are not really old and on the decline from past greatness).

That doesn't mean they are crap, of course. They're great players. But looking at United's squad compared to City, Chelsea (maybe even Tottenham, now), and then across Europe, there's not much now for the other Big Teams to be afraid of. At least, not without SAF pulling the strings. I honestly think this might have been part of why SAF chose to retire when he did; it's possible he saw how hard it was going to be to keep competing, and decided to let that finally be someone else's problem.

Personally, I believe in Moyes. I think he's a long-term replacement, and for the short-term United fans will have to be patient. But, he's a builder, and he's a nurturer, also. He's inherited SAF's team, and it'll take time until it's HIS team, instead. That is, playing the style of football he wants, and with the type of players he wants to make that style happen.

It just probably won't be this season. :/

Im not saying he is wrong, we might not have one of the top 5 squads in Europe but saying that we cant win the UCL with what we have is not even close to how a manager should behave. How would that make the fans and players feel like; to see that not even the head manager believes in the team we have. United has always been candidate for a long run on the UCL, and as Lodatz said, with Sir Alex we made our decent not-top-class squad aspire for everything we compete for so why cant Moyes just STFU and work as hard as he can with what he has? I never heard of him saying he coudnt win the EPL or any other tournament while at Everton due to his lack of talented players so why now?

Sorry if Im going crazy about this but It is just not the way to confront a bad run from the team... I hope he dindt meant to say that and that the media is making it sound worst than it is. Because if he doesnt believe in the team he has then who will?

This is what the back of my United's shirt badge says, and I think Moyes is going against what Manchester United is about...

Maybe Im overreacting, and I hope I am but Moyes attitude towards the current bad run is not helping anyone at all...

What I didn't understand is, what stopped him from getting those world class players? He had a full pre season and seemingly 'unlimited' funds available. So?

Forgive me for asking, but due to our lack of activity in the transfer windows for the past few seasons, I have no idea where on the list United stands in the amount of money we can spend. I'm always confused because we always seem to be in debt and I have no idea what's going on.

It might be a tactic to say to the others not to concentrate against United, but they end up losing...

No ok seriously, what he says is true but it's not an attitude to have for a 5 star club manager.

Kids, in the summer of 2013 United manager SAF retired. The whole world was sad that day. Then a wierdo came along and said 'Don't worry, I will change the mood!' And so he made the team lose every single game and the he realised he was fucked. RIP David Moyes

^Hold on, kid, season is not over, United is still United, decreasing actual performance doesn't make a good team bad team.

Are people just noticing this now? This has been going on for the past 2-3 years at United. Their squad has not had as much world class players as Barca, Chelsea, City, Madrid and Bayern (etc) for a while now. The only reason why they managed to still do amazingly these past couple of years was because of Ferguson.
