Thibaut Courtois injury needs surgery - Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed Thibaut Courtois requires surgery on a knee injury and will be out for "quite a long time."

There have been mixed reports on how long goalkeeper Courtois will be sidelined after he sustained the problem upon his return to training with Chelsea following the international break.

Mourinho said at a news conference on Friday: **"Courtois was injured in a training session with the goalkeepers and I cannot tell you much, but I can tell you that he needs surgery in his right knee.

"As a consequence of that he will be out for quite a long time. I cannot be at this moment more specific about the injury or the time he will be out."**

We've got all the bad luck since the start of the season, hopefully we will cope with this tough time and keep going forward.. Luckily We still have Begović.. I wish Cech stayed one more season...Some sources said that it will take 2 to 4 month for him to recover...

@Marcus You may be right, He did pull some decent saves, but people will only see the scoresheet and judge, Even if he pulls 100 saves and concedes 3, there will still be negative reaction

Well people are dumb then . Pure simple . He did great .

Mourinho will make a big signing in January. He is learning that some players have become to secure and complacent. I don't know if its right to put the blame fully on a few players because the entire team has been faltering. Chelsea isn't even creating much nor scoring any of the ones they do create. The defence is, well, shocking.

^ Chelsea doesnt need new signing.. they just need to wake up.. buying new players is not the solution.. they have a WORLD CLASS squad already.. :l

CFC KTBFFH !! We don't need signings , we have enough players . All we need is to get behind the team and drop Ivanovic on the bench . He has had 5 games to improve himself , and still could not so time to give someone else chance because anything on that flank is better than Ivanovic at the moment .

Yeah it is a whole team that does not play well but at least one goal from last 5 matches came because of Ivanovic inability to close down on players faster .

Also , Matic and Fabregas are not giving the defense protection they need . They used to cover spaces faster last season now opponents have way too much time and space on the ball .

most of our results last season were 1-0 victories, defence has fallen to pieces and its true what mourinho said its just not our time. really hope we improve throughout the season

I just noticed that as of right now Chelsea have the worst defense in the PL with 12 goals total conceded. So you could well be right that Ivanovic needs to be dropped.

Ivanovic and Costa are our worst players atm, but Fabregas, Falcao, Matic, Cahill, Terry, or Hazard are not very better, our entire team sucks badly since the start of the season, I don't know what happend during this summer break, but they all need to wake up. SRSLY.

Yep, I think it's time to drop Ivanovic. But he's not the only one to blame... the whole Chelsea played without any concrete tactic... they played like us last year, just not united. I think it's Mou's to blame... they look like there is no motivation
