Mourinho calls Stamford Bridge an Empty Stadium

Jose Mourinho has criticised the lack of atmosphere at Stamford Bridge by saying it feels like Chelsea are playing their home games in an "empty stadium".

The Premier League leaders laboured to a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers and afterwards Mourinho launched an attack of the lack of noise generated by his fans. He described their lack of passion as "frustrating" and said it makes things "difficult" for his players.

“Everyone knows how much I feel connected to this club and the fans,” he told talkSPORT.
“At this moment it’s difficult for us to play at home though, because playing here is like playing in an empty stadium."

“The team then starts playing like it’s a quiet, soft game at home. It’s difficult to get that strong start where the players, team and fans at Stamford Bridge [are all together]."

  • “I was today looking around and it was empty, but not in terms of people because it was obviously full. That’s what frustrating.”*

He has a very valid point. But isn't that what you expect when ticket prices are so ridiculously high, and attending a professional match is basically a luxury in England? Those people in the stands are 'real' Chelsea supporters. They're more like upper-class people who can afford to watch football matches.

If you want all the 'real' Chelsea supporters in the crowd, lower the prices. And this goes to all English teams. Their ticket prices are too damn high. Not all passionate supporters can afford to attend matches. If you lower the prices, those 50,000 fans will be singing for the players all day long, believe me. No sport is more passionate than football.

I had a conference I had to attend to in London last season, for my company. Chelsea was playing Galatasaray and of course, I had to go watch it. The ticket was £129. Since who knows when Im going in London again, I was like f**k it, w/e so I got it(Had to pay for 4 for my fiance and relatives XD),but it was once in a lifetime opportunity for me so its no biggie but doing that every weekend might hurt someone's pockets. I do not know how much EPL tickets cost but if they're expensive, I'd say exactly what Dyna said.

Ive also heard how British parents take their young football mad kids to matches such as Bayern vs Dortmund. Much, much cheaper and quality football too. Increase the stadium size and lower the prices.
