Dynastian, I don't think he meant anything by it. He's right though want really bad glory hunting fans check out the guys at the Etihad. I know a bunch of them who only started buying tickets after their BPL title a couple years back. I know their type.

Although there is a lot of truth in the joke . It was still a joke. You must realize that United have build an empire in Manchester . City offered different product ( perhaps style of football ) and some fans started to follow for one or the other reason , but still United takes the chunk of the fans . Imagine in 20 years time United becomes mid table team ( ofcourse that would not happen now or ever to clubs that established themselves up top ) and City still challenging for titles domestically and eventually in Europe , I think tables will turn . It will be city fans saying perhaps similar words that you wrote about them .
Example I think if Everton was successful in titles then Liverpool would have become a club that actually does 'walk alone '.
If I was owner of the club then I would not want to have a club in the same city as United .
