. UEFA Europa League winners to qualify for Champions League from 2015/16 season:
UEFA Executive Committee has finally come to an agreement, of uplifting the standards of the UEFA Europa League by deciding that the champions of the second tier of European competition will be eligible to play the first tier competition the very next season, without any help of their league standings.
This decision will brighten the competition and add some extra competitiveness and help to uplift the standards of the trophy.
UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino said: “This is a step from UEFA to uplift the standards of second tier of European competition. UEFA Europa League hasn’t yet lived up to what we expect from it and we believe that this step from the UEFA will help us to achieve our goals.”
