P.S. That's also 11 seasons, not 10, just so you know.
Yes I am aware is 11 I meant to say "last 10 years of champions league" from 2001/2-2011-12. As for the winners and runners up being semi finalists that would just be a hassle, I only stated how they ended.
Right, but what I'm saying is: the last 10 seasons is from 2002/03 -- 2011/12.
So 2001/2002 doesn't factor in, if you see what I mean?
Er, or to put it another way: you can't fit 11 seasons into 10 years.
Goodness gracious. Chelsea pops up six times in the semis in the last 11 seasons. O.o. Damn, they are underrated in European competitions. Remember the time when they drew Barcelona last season, and everyone was like, "There's no way Chelsea can beat Barcelona. Lionel Messi is too much to handle.". I'll admit, even I thought that at first. Even after the 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, I thought that Chelsea were gonna get hit headfirst by Barcelona at the Nou Camp. But boy was I wrong. Cheers to the Chelsea faithful who still believed that their team would make it.
Well here's another way to look at the sim-finalists of the past 11 years in the CL
Manchester United - 6
Chelsea FC - 6
Real Madrid - 4
FC Barcelona - 7
AC Milan - 4
Inter Milan - 2
Juventus - 2
Liverpool - 3
Bayern - 2
I'm proud to be a blue :)
shocking to know that Arsenal have been to the semi finals only twice.
@Zakzook
Raimondo's data starts approximately at the exact time the Emirates Stadium was built and Arsenal started to decline.
Well Arsenal have partaken in the CL for 15 consecutive seasons (a record only bettered by Madrid & United) & made it past the group stages for 13 consecutive seasons w/ 4 QFs, 2 SFs, & 1 Runner's Up. The only regret is that we don't have the 1 winner's place. We were the first London club to make it to the CL final but alas we were undone by 1 goal in the end.
All things considered, that's still pretty damn impressive.
English clubs are so strong.
@winecooler
Yes they are. It's just a shame they don't rely more on homegrown British talent and rather opt to buying players from abroad.
The times when arsenal and liverpool were strong european teams seem so far away now, it is scary
@KingHenry The question is, will they ever return to their old selves? If so, then how long until they do? Remember, Arsenal was capable of topping the EPL undefeated against a Sir Alex Ferguson-managed Manchester United side, and Liverpool was once so clinical that they won the English First Division 18 times, until Sir Alex broke that record.
The Emirates wasn't built until 2006, just so you know.
