Hallelujiah! :D
No, seriously, I''m really happy. This is the one we wanted. :) Dunno if he'll be able to play on Sunday, but, this is a fantastic signing for us.
lol gunnerAFC :)
Lamela is fantastic!
He will make tottenham fans forget Bale :)
Good signing! I think starting from next season it will be a new era for Spurs, but again it won't be easy. :P I can see them qualify for champions league this season.
Damn, I really thought he we'd steal him as well :D. Great signing for Tottenham. He will surely become their star by the end of this season.
Who'd have thought that Spurs would break their transfer record (and not just break, but SMASH) three times in one window??
Wait a second... if Bale stays and Lamela scores a goal with the celebration in the pic above... what will happen? Since Bale trademarked the shit out of it...
(could not resist)
F*CK ME! I'm gone for a few days and this happens? Is this for real or paper talk? FFS, if Spurs get Lamela I will be super upset. What a shitty summer.
At this rate, Chelsea will sign Rooney, United will buy Ozil, and Arsenal will sell Cazorla with the logic of transforming Jack into the main CAM only for him to have a season ending injury days later! Why do I eve bother checking in anymore? Wake me up when this torture window is over.
Yes, it's official, Foot. He's been photographed landing at the airport in London, along with Chiriches (though not together).
:'(
Brilliant signing. Just brilliant. Well done Levy. This man knows how to invest and sell.
@Lodatz
I'll see your Levy
and raise you one Gazidis
Your move.
Im going to miss him a lot at Roma, he is such a talented young player. Not sure if EPL would be the best for him but I just hope he would be a regular for spurs. Tottenham, you are spending money wisely.
It would be funny that for some reason Bale's transfer couldn't be completed so Tottenham would end with a reeealy big deficit.
^^ What would be hilarious, is that we actually wouldn't. All this has been paid for by the savings made over the last two summers, and the new TV deal money.
So, if we kept Bale, we'd break even anyway.
Alas, I've thrown in the towel on doing that, though. Just know that January and next summer, we'll be at it all over again... >:)
Could you draw up a possible Spurs starting XI for the NLD?
And which all Arsenal players are injured?
Honestly with the new signing Spurs have made, along with the depth of their squad, I think we've got a real title challenger here. What I admire about Tottenham is the way they have improved so dramatically over the years. Their model and the way they have gone about building this club should be an inspiration to teams in the lower parts of the table. Respect.
I'll let @Lodatz be the judge of this. BTW I know that AVB will most likely utilize a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 formation. This is just another option that is pretty appealing and offers much fluidity and potency in attack up front, but perhaps not as much width.
@Fred: It's actually a little tough to say, as I think a lot is going to depend upon possible injuries tonight, and or seniority. After all; it's the NLD. Some of the players in our squad take that shiz seriously.
Here is what I expect, barring any alarming injuries against Tbilisi:
BENCH: FREIDEL, KABOUL, CAPOUE, SIGURDSSON, LAMELA, TOWNSEND, DEFOE
The reason why I reckon Dawson will start, is because he's the captain, and because Kaboul was out all of last season. There's bound to be a little bit of rust, and besides, with this being one half of the most important fixtures this year (at least emotionally), I reckon both AVB and Dawson will want the cap on the pitch, putting steel into the side and making sure everyone keeps their cool.
For similar reasons, I reckon Sandro will be given the nod, as well. Capoue has been brilliant thus far, but, Sandro knows what this game means. He's returned from injury, and Capoue will definitely be there in case he needs cover, but I suspect Sandro will have insisted to start this game. The Beast wants blood. Of course, AVB could well do it the other way round, too, and have Capoue start, with Sandro 'just in case', but I really would put a fiver on Sandro starting.
For Paulinho and Dembele, I think the main idea will be to try and contain Arsenal's passing game, just like they did against Swansea. Now, Swansea are not Arsenal, and they also had no Plan B, which you would expect Wenger to have, but either way, I think the main objective for our midfield will be to literally crush their passing, and test their high line. Sigurdsson has been AVB's CAM of choice from the bench thus far, so I have him on the bench, even though personally I think we're going to have to find someone else for that role, long-term.
For Lennon, again I think it's a matter of seniority. Lamela won't start, of that I'm pretty sure, because you don't throw a new signing (who has not even trained yet with the squad) into our most heated derby from the get-go, but I bet AVB will have him along, in case a last-ditch effort is needed in the second half to try and grab and equalizer, or poach a winner, etc. You never know what coming on in the 71st minute for your debut can bring, you know?
Townsend could well start ahead of Lennon, but I doubt it. Lennon is Spurs old school. Lennon knows the score. Lennon is up for this match, in a way that few of the remaining squad members will be. Townsend has been playing well, and we're all excited about him, but I reckon Lennon will pull rank, here. He'll want a goal against Arsenal, and he'l run his heart out to get (or assist) one.
The same could be said for Defoe, which is why I imagine we;ll see him come on at some point, but I think SOldado will start, and I don't think anyone could argue with that.
As for the other new guys (Chiriches and maybe Eriksen, too, if all goes well?), I think AVB will wait another day to give them their debuts. This one's too important. He'll want players he knows he can count on, or at the least, players he knows what they'll do.
Anyhow, that's my prediction. Answer your question? :D
In Arsene Wengers words - Top top quality player . Spurs just became title contenders IMO if they can get all their new signings up and running together.
