La Liga vs. EPL, Serie A, and Bundesliga in the 2010's

Seeing that it will be an all-English final in both the Europa and Champions Leagues, I decided to tally up the inter-league battles across the two tournaments in the 2010's. This includes all inter-league games from 2009-10 to 2018-19 seasons in both the EL and CL.

So far I've only done Spain. I will do the remaining three inter-leagues later (since it takes a lot of time).

Hats off to a decade of Spanish dominance (that we are unlikely to see in the next decade due to EPL broadcasting revenues)!

Good work so far. I Wana see the other comparisons before really drawing any conclusions.

Milan's record against Spanish sides is shocking, I'm really surprised. Amazing thread also.

@Quikzy

PPG seems like a poor metric to use since many of these ties were in the knockout stages, at which point teams are no longer concerned with points-oriented results. An away team might be content with losing the first leg 2-1 if it means they don't concede a third, so long as they believe they can win in the second leg at home. They might not push for a draw because of the vulnerability they would leave in the back. Using a PPG metric would hurt this team in this instance.

As a result, points become a poor metric to use outside of the group stages, especially for two-legged ties with away goals being a factor.

Wow, nice thread. It's interesting how Bundesliga, thanks to Bayern, has a huge effect in result.

Chelsea as well. They've been 4-5-2 against Spanish competition in the 2010's. Lost to Barcelona once and to Atletico once in the Super Cup (the Falcao hat-trick).
