Juve 2 - 1 Real .. brought back the old Italian style

CATENACCIO is not bus parking.

The game yesterday was a beauty to watch in a different way. Finally, we saw some old Italian beauty back... I miss those time.

It was an intense game, we all saw how both teams missed their best players (Modric, Pogba)... but Juve's performance sparked out something we thought to be long dead from Serie A (or long sleep).

On paper, to be honest, Real could eat Juve alive... but the game showed otherwise.

Now, that's CATANACIO/Catenaccio guys. The actual good defending system that please our eyes. Not bus parking tactic. Some would argue it's Zona Mista.

I haven't seen so many beautiful tackles from individual in a while (not just throw bunch of people to block an attack)... despite some of those tackles almost caused them trouble (if a player do a sliding tackle and got passed, it would cost them 1,5 second to catch up)...

PS: Morata's goal is also a new record of number of passes before goal (27), broke the record from Bayern against Porto (26) - details: see comment

I was really surprised by Juventus, they were perfectly tactically prepared for this match. I actually expected them to defend much more, but they were amazing, and deserved the win, could have scored another 1-2. Real on the other side was just crossing like United last season.

Actually it wasnt even catenacio, nor slow tempo, they fought for posession and got 47% of it wich is a good number Vs Madrid, i really appreciated the fluidity of the passes and their players ball control...
The game was very pleasent thanks to both coaches, Juve could have closed the game at 1-0, Madrid at 1-1 but they both kept playing for the kill and it was a pleasure to watch.

@decentK: thanks mate.

**PS: *Morata's goal is also a new record of number of passes before goal (27), broke the record from Lewandowski - *Bayern against Porto which he scored after 26 passes.

The special thing is also Morata started the attack and ended it. Beautiful

I knew from this Pirlo's number was 21, Tevez for me was MOTM.

Unlike a certain team from England, Juventus' defending is genuinely entertaining. They know the art of defense. Not the art of shoving-nine-players-in-the-box.

@Chelsea8

I thought we were talking about Juventus, the team that won the Scudetto for the last 4 years in a row, and thrashed your team 5-2 just a few years ago?

Who cares about the past? Then why be a hypocrite why mention it? Oh wait... hypocrisy is a common symptom in Mourinho ass-kissers. I'm also pretty sure that was 3-1, not 4-1, and it was in 2003. Juventus hammered you guys in 2011, so I hope you're old enough to remember that!

I don't know about you, but I'm happy that I'm actually still competing for the Champions League in the semi-finals. I can't seem to remember what happened to Chelsea. Seems like they were knocked out so long ago.....

@Dyn: you kinda started it and you know how Chelsea's fans would react, mate. But I remember you keep saying no team deserves EPL more than Chelsea... so despite being ugly at time, they are still most worthy champion. I always way more keen on watching this kind of defending than park-the-bus, but not much team can pull this off. So letś move on guys, and back to topic.

@Chelsea8

I speak facts mate. But then again, Chelsea fans aren't deserving of any attention at this point. They're too cocky over their EPL victory. Very difficult to win the league when your main competition is 13 points behind you.
