Toure, who was part of the Manchester City side that lost in Barcelona the day after Arsenal's Champions League exit to Bayern Munich, was unhappy with Mourinho's comments, but speaking ahead of Chelsea's trip to Aston Villa, he insisted his words were only made out of support.

"If to say before the Munich and Camp Nou matches that these matches are not over, that Arsenal and City have enough quality to go there and turn things around, if to support the teams from the country where I work, if this is a lack of respect, okay that's a lack of respect," said Mourinho."But I think that Arsenal and Manchester City showed that I was right, that they had enough quality to do it. They played very good matches, so I don't think this is a lack of respect, this is support."

"In the same way, I say Manchester City have three matches in hand in the Premier League and they are capable of winning all three matches and going top of the league. If that is lack of respect, he has a strange concept of lack of respect. "

"I tried on both occasions to be respectful of the two English teams and I want to say the same about Manchester United. I think they are a better team than Olympiakos and I think United can do it. I hope they do it."Victory in the Saturday Night Football clash would see Chelsea go 10 points clear of Arsenal and Liverpool, who both play on Sunday, but Mourinho repeated his mantra that the table is not accurate.

"You look at the table and if you have just the number of points, the table is fake, because before the number of points is the number of matches," he added."We could have 30 points more than them and 10 matches more. It means nothing."When everybody has the same number of matches - I don't know when this is going to happen, maybe in the last week of competition - is when the table is real."

I know you guys are getting tired of him , but I never do , so you don't have to read or comment :)) . I am not just happy to see Mourinho back at Chelsea, but also in English football . He lighted up EPL once again . He is advocating for English football like Englishman . Although I believe you do not have to be Englishman or patriot of England or like England at all , in order to support or advocate for EPL .

Jose is right on point about FA not helping English clubs and their struggling in Europe could have been avoided with better EPL scheduling , so they could get proper rest before CL matches . Also , That extra day could have been very valuable for Aguero and Ozil to stay fit . However, obviously still FA cares about money that broadcasting companies offered .

Sometimes clubs and football associations forget how much power they have and I think football fans should be able to have their voices heard . I do not mind watching my team play on Friday if it means they get extra day before CL fixture .

As we all know Mourinho tactics, I think he only wanted Arsenal & City to go through just because we would have more matches and less focus on Premier League.

Maybe yes , but you don't think he was genuinely wishing English club progress for good of EPL and so he won't have to play Bayern and Barcelona later on the stages ?

Everything he says is mind tricks to all of the fans . This is only coach who stands up for EPL . He has been saying same words since the start of the season . I think people find it hard to admit that later after one month or two whatever he says becomes evidently true .

@Marcus He isnt really standing up for the Premier league at all, he is just saying that Arsenal and Man City got quality (Which they have), and that Manchester United is a better team than Olympiakos which they are not. Maybe on paper but not on the pitch.

The premier league is 20 teams not just the top four.

"I don't understand why Manchester City play today. Why a team who plays in Europe on Wednesday must play at 1245 on the Saturday?"I don't understand why Galatasaray played last night and we have to play today before our game on Tuesday. And why at 5.30 and not 1245?"There is something in this country that goes outside my understanding.

"Why did City have to play Wigan last Sunday? Barcelona, who they played in the Champions League, played on Saturday. Why didn't City have an extra day?"People don't care that English teams are struggling in Europe. Why? I care. There is space that could be filled with communication."

"They should ask the players if its the same, playing after two days or three. Ask Didier Drogba at Galatasary. Is it the same for him to play on a Friday or a Saturday and then travel to London to play on Tuesday? "If we had played last night would it have made a difference to anyone? It would still be a full house. Would it be good for English football? Yes."

This week City star Yaya Toure attacked Mourinho for not showing respect to other teams and talking about them too much. But Mourinho said: "I hope Yaya Toure doesn't tell me to shut up, but I don't understand why City have to play today at lunchtime. Why not us play at 1245 and them at 5.30? We'd have an extra day to recover, and so would they. Everybody agrees. Maybe Yaya doesn't."
