Jose Mourinho says he 'did not sell' Chelsea midfielder to Man Utd

Well this confirms my suspicions that at least half of the transfers weren't up to Mourinho . You might say don't take his word for it but I want you to look at the transfers and see if those were Mourinho like players and type players that Mourinho would let go especially to direct rivals . Like Cech and Mata .

Cech to Arsenal is understandable. He asked to stay in England and obvious was good enough to play for the top teams. United has De Gea so and City at the time were happy with Hart. That basically left two teams, Arsenal and Spurs. Spurs have always trusted Lloris and Arsenal were very interested so the deal was sensible.

It's true some teams have a director who makes the transfers and other teams give full control to the manager. I believe the manager should hold 90% of the power unless the team has a very sound strategy sich as Southampton were they sign players based on an analysis and profile. Even their manager is selected based on that.

If the transfers weren't up to Mourinho then it is entirely Chelsea's fault. You should be giving your manager the trust to build his team how he sees fit. Mourinho should've been allowed to choose who he keeps and who he sells. No transfer-related decision should've been made without his consent.

I'm born and bred on American sports, where there is the position of the head coach (manager) and General Manager. It's the GM's job to bring in and remove players. Obviously, the coach has a huge say, and usually the two work together, but it's the GM's job to assemble to squad. And it works perfectly. Tbh, I never understood the managerial obsession present in soccer. Teams like Watford, Southampton, and Barcelona prove that significant managerial upheaval/turnover can barely ripple the squad if good administrative action is taken.

/ sigh / of course he didn't want to sell him, if I was a coach I'd like to have a squad full of the worlds best players too, in the starting XI as well as on the bench. But guess what? The players on the bench are going to be unhappy if you don't play them / insert surprised face /. That's exactly what happened with Mata. He unjustly went from being the clubs player of the year for two consecutive season to a bench warmer and it's no surprise that he - like many other player who aren't given a glimpse of hope to make the starting XI - pushed for a move himself. I've been around for long enough to know that it's tough for you to accept that Mourinho's refusal to play him led to Mata's move, but that's the way it is. It's not always Emenalos fault, you know, even though Chelsea fans always seem to blame him. It's similar to KDBs case. It was Mourinho who didn't include him in the team, again leading to his sale. The Technical Director isn't the one who axes the players from the team or decides who should be sold, he subsequently only negotiates the move.

Sorry but how does this confirm anything? Mourinho said this, he either was honest, or he could've lied as well.

Of course if Mourinho dislikes Mata, he won't admit it, as long as he is Mata's coach.
