Jose Mourinho has agreed a deal to re-join Chelsea Plus Falcao.

After months of negotiations the European champions have reached a breakthrough in their efforts to bring back the Special One and recruit the prolific Atletico Madrid striker

Jose Mourinho has agreed a deal to re-join Chelsea as their manager this summer – and is poised to bring €59 million striker Radamel Falcao with him.

The Real Madrid boss is expected to be unveiled in the Stamford Bridge hot seat at the end of the season following a breakthrough in negotiations with the club over the last week.

The Chelsea high command, led by Roman Abramovich, have been in talks with Mourinho’s camp for months about a sensational return for the man who led the club to two Premier League titles during his first spell in charge from 2004-2007.

Negotiations have centred on how much control Mourinho will have in recruiting players and staff, as well as his place in a management structure where low-profile technical director Michael Emenalo holds the levers of power.

It is believed that, following a series of twists and turns during discussions, an agreement in principle has been reached for the Portuguese to take over from interim manager Rafael Benitez this summer.

Mourinho is expected to put pen to paper and formalise the deal when he ends his three-year spell in Madrid at the end of next month.

A report in Germany last week claimed that Chelsea were on the brink of landing both Mourinho and Atletico Madrid’s spearhead Falcao.

The European champions have since made further progress with both deals and are confident that Mourinho will announce the prolific Colombian, who is also represented by super agent Jorge Mendes, as one of his first signings.

Chelsea, who came close to landing Falcao last August and then again in January, have been in talks with Atletico top brass for weeks about the structure of a deal which is complicated by uncertainty over the future of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has been extremely impressive since joining the Spanish club on loan at the start of last season.

Chelsea are prepared to allow the Belgian keeper to continue his development by staying in Madrid for another season if it eases Falcao's path to west London.

The Blues have made it clear that they are willing to activate the €59m release clause in the striker’s Atletico contract.

The deal is a complex one because of third-party ownership issues - with Mendes part of a consortium holding an interest in Falcao - but Chelsea have intensified their efforts to land the front man in a bid to ensure the transfer can be completed.

The London club have made Falcao a contract offer and it is believed that personal terms have already been agreed on a deal that is likely to make the striker one of the highest paid players in Premier League history.

Mourinho and senior Chelsea officials regard the Colombian, who has scored 32 goals in 36 games for Atletico this season, as an upgrade on current front men Fernando Torres and Demba Ba.

@Dynastian98 I hope so! :) and also I'm sick and tired of sacking managers every time. and if i want a manager to stay for a long time in the club I wouldn't choose anyone else but Mourinho. as for RDM, he is our club legend as a player and coach. It would be great if both would work together tho but that won't happen.

@Dynastian98, well put mate. @AlexBatak, if Chelsea want longevity in a manager, then they should not go for Mourinho. I have tremendous respect and admiration for the guy, but the fact that he has never stayed at one club for more than 3 years means he is not that type of manager. He is also not going to fit the new model of football Chelsea are trying to implement with high pressing up the field, as most of his success has come from defensively solid/counter-attacking teams. Why not give Moyes a chance? He is out of contract in the summer. He will bring the best out of the players there and will not take anything for granted. And besides with Mourinho, you never know what the guy is really thinking. Maybe he is smooth-talking Chelsea so his demand goes up among his other suitors.

@TheGame I like Moyes but seriously I'm sick and tired of changing managers every year and sometimes twice a year .. This is not good for the players moral nor the fans. We need a stable manager. I envy you guys to have an intelligent manager as Sir. Alex. Let's hope for the best for the English clubs. I think Moyes is doing great at Everton and he should stay there. There were some rumores that Moyes will be our next manager but I highly doubt it. Mourinho will bring the good out of every young player we have. and might as well turn Lukaku into someone like Drogba. Who knows! :)

@AlexBatak, mate just to let you know Mourinho has never been one to rely on young players unless he absolutely has to. Look at his time at Chelsea, Inter and Madrid where he relied solely on established players and only played a younger squad when an important match is coming up or during an injury plague. But I got to say Lukaku is a beast and hopefully he gets some minutes under his belt and not end up like Sturridge.

@TheGame: That is not true. I could look it up and show you, but I'm too sleepy. I'll post something about it later.

@W_T_H thats because they invested in great propects like Di Maria, Benzema, Ozil etc. Not big stars like Beckham, Zidane

Remarkable comments from 2 years ago, especially @TheGame "Why not give Moyes a chance?" :P

Anyway, it seems like Falcao will be a Chelsea player next season! Good upgrade to replace Drogba. I can't wait till the official announcement and 4 more years contract for Mourinho! Apparently he is not planning to leave unless Roman decides to.

Let's hope Falcao finds his form again. I think Mourinho will make much more use of him than Van Gaal did. I miss seeing the old Falcao scoring 30+ a season regularly.

@Alex, hindsight is 20/20. Lol you even said that you liked Moyes at the time and to be fair he was due a top flight job for his longevity at Everton. @D, Falcao was a major flop at United and he has lost a lot of pace which made him so deadly in the past. We might've paid his wages but were very clever to sign him on a loan and not a full transfer. Didn't he receive a 2/10 rating against Venezuela a couple of days ago? If you watched him at all last season, you'll see that he isn't going to magically become a beast again.

I think Falcao would score all of these chances and I think that our midfields has more creativity than united. Hazard and Fabregas were the best 2 in the EPL at creating the most chances and passes in the league. I think Falcao will not be Torres 2.0 and he will surely score more than 4 goals given he would get such chances to score. And lets not forget that he ended the season with the best passing accuracy at United so he can actually be useful even if he doesn't score but assist goals. Falcao did not have enough trust and backing from LVG.

@Alex, if you watched him last season he was slipping ALL THE TIME. And his back was always against a defender playing more of a hold up role. He was given plenty of chances. I think he found the pace in the PL too unrelenting. That is why his only goals were more poacher than running and terrorizing defenders like he did at Atletico. Loic Remy>>>Falcao. He is Torres 2.0 and you guys can come back and grill me if I am wrong ;)

Haha Well.. I hope he is not Torres 2.0 and besides he will be our 3rd striker. So he will do better than a retired Drogba. The plus side is that he will be playing under Mourinho and half of his Atletico Madrid team mates :))

Yeah. I agree. I hope Remy stays unless we sign Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

I think he will do better than at United. On one side I think he can regain his form but.. As I know how a lot of strikers in Chelsea end.. If Mourinho will try to play with 2 strikers that may be deadly, but since we all know Mourinho he's not going to do that. Falcao won't have much time on the pitch tho.

He probably needed 1 year to regain his old form, luckily he spent it at United :P and now he will unleash it wearing blue. He still have a good ball control and goal poacher's instinct. In our playing style we only need a finisher and if he can just tap in on target then that would be enough.

Haha Chelsea fans and their mania for hype and hope at the expense of reality. Never gets old. 17 goals out of 51 games in the past 2 seasons tells a different story. Trust me, if Mourinho was as confident he would have got him permanently and not for a 1-year loan deal. Andhe has had several blunders in terms of transfers (De Bruyne, Mata, Cuadrado). This is going to be another one. Completely fine by me though, Chelsea can have our sloppy seconds :p Besides, if you can't even hit double digits in terms of goals, you don't deserve to wear United's No. 9.

Ah come oooon I'm not hyping him too much :)) I just said he will be our 3rd striker which is fine by me. I think we got him on loan not buying him is for an obvious reason which is his age.
