"It's when the night-life became more important to him than football that his talents became wasted."

It would only be considered "wasted" if there was a possibility Ronaldinho could actually be more focused on football than anything else and still want to play football, and we both can't say for sure. I think it's part of who he was and if there was a slight change in that there wouldn't be a Ronaldinho at all. Maybe the true "waste" would be if he was completely focused on football than anything else because then there is the possibility that he wouldn't want to play football at all.

Wasn't Ronaldinho always engaged in the occasional nightlife though, even at Barcelona?

"I think that out of those millions who try, it's mostly those who have a good attitude who are the ones who make it."

True. And what I was saying was is that just a good attitude is not enough.

@Gus:

Well of course not, but, that's like saying we can't be sure that the Sun will come up tomorrow. We have extremely good reasons to expect it, though? I think the same way about Ronaldinho. I have seen nothing whatsoever which suggests that he would not have been able to play football if he focused on it, and an awful lot to suggest that when he worked hard he played his BEST football, which I have a hard time imagining was not fun, for him.

Do you see what I mean?

"Wasn't Ronaldinho always engaged in the occasional nightlife though, even at Barcelona? "

I heard his partying intensified enormously after the 2006 CL victory, just like it did at PSG after the 2002 World Cup final.

Maybe he just has an issue with staying focused after winning things. Either way, his talent is still there for all to see. He had much more to give; he just apparently didn't think it was important enough.

Only he could have made that call, and no-one else should make it for him, but, that doesn't stop others from seeing what could have been if only Ronaldinho had understand these things better.

People think Ronaldinho was smiling off camera, its pretty diferent than you think, he had a perfect diva behaviour.
He had so many talent that nothing could be refused to him, Reikard gave him a free card for training and we lost our best player at an early age...

Players like Zanetti or Giggs can play for a long time because of their healthy life and proffessional behaviour, like Etoo said to Hazard, you may have Ronaldinho talent if you dont practice every day you will pay it cash, Football is crual, other talented hungry youth will take your place and you will be quickly forgotten...

No pain, no gain. You want glory ? You have to do some sacrifice...

By the way, its good for young talents to have bigger brothers like Etoo to give them advices...

Samuel Eto'o is probably giving Hazard advice based on what he saw happen to Ronaldinho. Good guy Samuel. Hopefully Hazard fulfills his talent, and becomes a Belgian legend.
