Someone needs to stop Real Madrid lol
@Amir VAR will :P
No, seriously I see a balanced competition with the past year contenders loosing consistency which can lead to an off game anytime soon, so it clearly higher the challenger chances... Also this season, Juve and Roma are in good shape, and so are Dortmund, United and Spurs played the knock out stages last year, they will be more experienced as a squad to avoid last year mistakes, Ajax are no joke. And PSG/Man City ultimate dream is CL. Im not saying all of them could contend but considering other clubs level, we can expect some surprises...
Madrid have been incredibly consistent in the knock out stages and finals, which is annoying because on league basis and clasicos, Barca owned them almost everytime... They still managed to be on top of Europe 3 times in a row while Spain is Blaugrana for a decade now...
EDIT : Annoying for me... I guess Madridistas are happy with that. :)

Also after United win in EL, Liverpool being finalist, and City getting semi finals. England secured second place and fourth CL spot. Italy being third secures 4 th place direct qualification to CL while German 4th would be obliged to pass pre-Qualification round of CL. The third round... It is dangerous, you can face the third of France or the second of Holland....etc
Coefficient is based on 5 last year, so any good run in this season and the next for a nation directly impacts the rankings, considering the 2013/14 stats will no longer count next year and so on...

I'm sure with UEFA's changes, Germany's 4th side automatically go through, and France's 3rd team. I'm sure Lyon and Dortmund were already through. This was done so the 'big' countries would have more sides. Even PSV didn't get a direct space into the CL, even though they won the Eredivisie.
As for those sides, I think a lot of them are quite overrated. Juventus are a big side tipped to win the CL, they have an excellent defense with Ronaldo and a strong midfield on paper, but I think that the team don't play too well, I know they were like this last year too, but they had a more stable midfield. Matuidi is decent, but upgradeable. I also think Benatia is better than Bonucci, tbh. Another overrated side is City maybe.
I should verify this, yeah i dont remember Lyon playing the usual 3rd round that French 3rd has to...
I agree on Juve level, and City drop of form, but lets notice Barca, Bayern, Atleti, Madrid getting less consistent to be soft. all are having a tough league start points aside, looking even at their victories, they are hard ones... Barça and Bayern are the only ones of these who didnt lost in groupstage securing qualification early. but any off game makes you off the competition.
Well Messi as a new captain, promised fans CL, and said it will be the main focus but we will see, Liverpool looks scary, andAtleti/Juve are never easy to play against. Bayern having both Ribery/Robben fit andin form. with Kingsley Coman and Gnabry for depth...
The outcome is open this year, we can witness an exotic winner, a sensation i didnt have for a long time ago....
@tiki Or Real could win it again, for all we know. :P But joking aside, I agree with you, it should be more open and interesting this year... I hope at least.

True, every Champions League if unpredictable, and I do think that despite Bayern's and Real Madrid's poor form as of late, they will still do well in the CL. I think this year will also be an emotional year for Messi, both for Barcelona and Argentina.

Very true! Ajax, first job is yours!
@amir Let's just hope Ajax is no Hot Rod, or else, it will end poorly. :P
