Don't get me wrong, I have always been pleased with Romero, in particular his world cup run.
That being said, DDG last year was on another level. Romero was not pulling off the saves DDG was in any game I saw him play. He's a great keeper, but him replacing De Gea is undoubtedly a downgrade.
Let's not try to justify this too much.
This proves how stats can deceive you to think something completely wrong. Romero y nowhere near De Gea and shouldn't even be compared. I refuse to think Romero would be our starting GK for the season...
de gea all the way. last season he made wonders for man united. whats the current status of him may i ask? he's staying or leaving?
Guys read carefully, it says stats from 2012/2013. Yes ddg is way better but Romero is a pretty decent GK. Similar case to David Lopez who was astounishing for Madrid in 2013-2014. DDG did terrific in the previous season, but idk about the season before that
You also have to consider DDG has been the first choice keeper meanwhile Romero has sat on the bench most of the time. I think if Romero gets the confidence to be first choice then he will improve, he has already done great in his first game.
