9th place last year ? Ehhh it hurts...
nice video :) that's why you put milito's pic as your profile pic since you've been here
@ Iraqi - Unplug your computer and go colour in some nice pictures like a good boy.
@iron - I have been on FR since 2007. I had Zanetti one for a while too.
@TheGame: Let us break it down, shall we.
Your points.
-Mourinho was implementing negative football to win the CL. (Got any proof? What games are you talking about?)
-The goal is to play winning AND attractive football at the same time. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, City, and United have all done it in recent times. (Inter played attractive football)
-dont tell me that the reason why Juve are so successful is because of Inters instability.(Juve would not have found as easy to run away with Serie A if Inter was stable)
-But the football they played was highly defensive and not very appealing (What games are you talking about??)
-Inter arent going to qualify for CL this year and it will be their third year in a row. (With good signings we will)
-His team was built around defense and careful organization and so were his tactics (deeper defensive lines, stronger forwards, physical center backs). (Utter nonsense)
About Moysey
But he wont be a fit at United. Our board of directors were looking for a long-term solution. Mourinho is not that person. They were also looking for someone with a record of giving youngsters a chance and developing youth players, as our history demands it. (United will be able to give all the youngsters they want a chance when they dont qualify for CL next year. Senior players - e.g Rooney and RVP = GONE in the summer.
They were looking for someone who would do everything in the best interest of the club and not ruin its reputation with his antics. (Moyes has already ruined United reputation and will ruin it further when he doesnt get champions league football next season.)
My points.
-actually having a strategy, a plan b = negative football?
-Over the last 3 years Inter has had 5 managers. = instability.
-From our 2010 Quintuple, winning team, only 5 still remain. Only 2 still play regularly. = Experienced seniors replaced with mediocre players.
-Former President Massimo Moratti was facing great financial difficulty = Could not build/keep players.
Lack of funding and competent managers gave juve the opportunity to go from strength to strength.
-If Inter built on the CL winning team and Mourinho stayed, Juve would have never had the chance.
-Juve were relegated to Serie B because of match fixing. They were supposed to go to Serie C1. (They are one of the clubs that cast a dark cloud over Serie A. They contributed in ruining the reputation of once the best league in the World)
About Moysey
-At the end of the season when united finish 10th and Chelsea has won the BPL and CL youll wish you got Mourinho.
Are we on the same page now? Any confusion?
Inter might have done better the year after their treble, if they hadn't come across Tottenham. :)
Taxi for Maiiicon....
Hahaha.. Good one. I had almost forgotten how unique and original your comments are.

Oh... still too soon?
My bad, bro.
"All in the game, yo".

I understand now why you are always frustrated, keep faith :)
At least, you will tell your grandchildren that you saw Inter win the CL ;)

The biggest Inter - Milan player competition I've had the joy to see live is Ronaldo vs. Maldini.
@TheGame Defensive and physical is how football should be played you deluded tool.
And Wolfie its not nonsense what he said however you should be proud that your coach sets up his team properly. If you dont like it dont deny it because that was how he built hes team. Crespo, Ibra and Milito are all big powerful centre forwards. (Like he said)

The good old days....
^ The good old days....
So, anyways, now that the fireworks have died down:
"If Inter built on the CL winning team and Mourinho stayed, Juve would have never had the chance. The main team (Inter) was out of contention. Our mastermind coach was gone. The spark was lost, players left. Perfect storm for juve rebellion. The stars and moons aligned just right for juve."
No, Juventus won by amassing 84 points in the league, 4 more than Milan in 2nd, 20 more than Udinese in 3rd, and had a goal difference of +48.
That's not an alignment of planets; that's an excellent football season. It's also two seasons after the departure of Mourinho, so, it's hardly a case of one thing causing the other. Plus, considering they had to recover from their demotion (who cares if it was originally meant to be Serie C1? It was still a drop of a whole league), this can only be attributed to a simply stunning combination of player excellence and shrewd managerial appointment. Kudos to Juve, because they earned it.
By contrast, Inter ended up, the season after winning the CL, going on the decline. Yes, that's with losing Mourinho, but, not losing too many players, as I recall; Zlatan being the obvious exception, to which Inter were compensated to the tune of £62 PLUS Samuel Eto'o, one of the finest strikers in the world. Not exactly an unrecoverable disaster, and indeed, they still came 2nd to Milan.
Still, Inter's fortunes continued to dip because it was only really Mourinho which had kept them high, and because they were not as good as Mourinho made them look. Milito was average, Sneijder was far from exceptional, Lucio and Samuel were old and past their prime, Maicon got injured and then was never the same again due to age (taxi, remember?), Muntari was average, etc etc.
Benitez didn't know what to do with them, Leonardo couldn't motivate them, and ultimately what was exposed was the gaping hole left in the wake of the Special One. The squad wasn't 'amazing', it had been amazingly handled, instead, and without that handling, the cream of Serie A was left to compete with the rest of Europe without the Special One's influence.
They got a wake-up call from Tottenham, and it helped; squeezing past Bayern on away goals (how many Inter fans complained about THAT 'ruling', hrm?), but then came unstuck against little ol' Schalke.
THAT's when everyone left, and the following season they slipped to 6th in the league, and dumped out by Marseilles in the CL.
The glory period of 5 titles in a row was something to be proud of, but, it was also during the period of Serie A's decline, and arguably only really happened because of the gap left open by Juventus' demotion. Apparently, Juventus have redressed that balance, now. ;)
@Dephased, I believe you made a mistake. When Footyroom prompted you to choose your club, you should have scrolled a bit further down for Stoke City.
@Lod - You didn't watch any Inter games. Heck, I'd go as far as to say the only Inter games you watched were the one's involving 5PURS. Even when Mourinho left if we had the finance to get the additional players Benitez wanted Milan would not have run away with Serie A in 10/11 same as juve in 11/12.
Inter fell asleep and Bale scored 3 identical boring goals. Contender for worst hatrick ever scored, even worse than Kuyt. Victory at home against the Mighty Inter seems to be your 5PURS team's greatest achievement to date. Seems almost like it justifies your team not winning any meaningful trophy since 1991. League cup in 2008, ohhhhh, WOW! Amazing.. haha! ;)
It's really cute how you think you're offering a riposte. ;)
Its okay, though. You keep on telling yourself that you're still relevant. Hey, maybe we can get folks talking about the mighty Ajax, too, or that time when Marseilles were really good, too!
In the meanwhile, I'll just remind myself that everything I said was correct, and that you know it too, which is why your reply was predictably devoid of any actual substance.
Taxi for Wolfie...
When was the last time spurs have been relevant. Were they ever relevant? Maybe if there was a trophy for 5th place. We all know how spurs love that 5th spot. They have embraced it, it's practically part of the team ethos now. On top of the chicken on the ball it should read, "We strive for 5th every year."
The fact that your club can consistently sign players is an amazing feat in itself. What a waste of time for them. "Spurs will always disappoint you" as Roy Keane so eloquently put it. You know I'm right. Accept it and make peace with yourself.
Wolfie is right, a true fan will always believe in glory for his beloved team till the very end. It just needs a gppd balance youngsters/experienced players. Mourinho is far from being perfect, i confirm it. Di Matteo would be a perfect signing. But it's gonna take a lot of time and i hope the new owners won't sack trainer every year. Rebuild a team is very long. And i'm afraid that Inter loses it. The stadium is going empty. Hope someone can make it turn around.
And good luck for Milan AC, what they're going through is even harder...
@Wolfie: Oh, buddy, you really don't get it, do you?
When you have to resort to nattering about someone else's team, simply because you have nothing to offer in response to their accurate summation of yours (which was, after all, the topic of the thread), you've already thrown in the towel.
You can witter on about Spurs all you want. It's water off a duck's back, mate, and none of it changes the fact that everything I said about the decline of Inter is true. Your whining about Juventus' 'luck', in the light of their near-heroic return to prominence, and your bitterness regarding the abject failure of Inter to maintain any relevance, are both symptomatic of a very immature, and rather tragic outlook on football.
And you know it. :)
Do let me know when you want to return to the topic again, won't you, old chap?
@expertfootball: You're right about the attendance issues; it's awful in Italy altogether, right now. Sadly, I think that things are going to get worse before they get better. Juventus aside, I don't expect much Italian impact upon UEFA competitions for another decade. :/
