I think it has something to do with wanting a slightly higher pay, plus he has bad relations with Rosell. There was an article on the topic I read which mentioned that Iniesta was the fifth highest paid player in Barcelona. If that is true, then he does deserve a raise.

I think he wants a higher pay... I mean why would a player in his prime whose football he sorts perfectly, winning at least one trophy a year would want to leave?

Messi, Neymar, and Dani Alves all earn more money from wages than him. Xavi and Iniesta earn the same wage. I find it ludicrous that Dani Alves of all people earn more money than Iniesta and Xavi. Seriously, Rosell needs to sort out his priorities.

HINT: One of them is making Andres the second-highest paid player on their team.

I really do wonder what these players spend their money on that they feel they need more...
They're literally millionaires and what difference would 2 or 3 million pounds do? Even if they were to somehow spend all that money, I'm sure their club or sponsor would somehow help them. Really wonder what they do with their money.

Iniesta deserves to be paid more.. but I'm pretty sure he will sign. If he doesn't, my heart will break.

@man_utd

It is not just about the money, but about what the money represents. Sure, Iniesta may spend his money on luxury, and donate it to charity, but the wage figures say something on their own.

Just imagine yourself as Andres Iniesta. World Cup winner, 2 time EURO Cup winner, 3 time Champions League winner, one of the greatest players of his generation playing alongside one of the greatest teams in history. And you are being out-paid by....... a 21 year old Brazilian kid and a 30 year old RB who doesn't even know how to defend properly. How would you feel?

You see, it's not about the money. It's about what the money REPRESENTS. Neymar and Alves being paid more than Iniesta is like saying that those two are more important to the club than Iniesta. It's not right. Since they can't lower Neymar or Alves' wage, they should increase Iniesta and Xavi's.

Either that, or refrain from paying Neymar and Alves such ridiculous amounts to begin with. :P

Well. I'm not talking about Iniesta only. I'm talking about players in general.

Although I can see where you're coming from, to be quite frank, I wouldn't care if this little Brazilian kid and 30 year old got more money than me so much so to the point where I would reject a contract renewal. To me, as long as you have enough money for a secure future, and respect from not only your supporters, but other people, that would be enough for me. If he really loves football, he shouldn't be so bothered by money.

If there is a 0.01% chance of Iniesta leaving, it will be for Man City...
With Pelegrini as a coach, and ex-Barça direction in the club, he's enough loyal and always want to work with people he knows.
I cant see him going to United, specially with their new coaching and their instable situation. And so for Chelsea, cant see him managed by Mou.
Only city could be a solution but i dont think it could be possible.

@man_utd Really? You would want to leave after that? Just because someone is earning more than you?

Dude. Read my other comments about actually criticizing that just because a player leaving because someone is getting a higher pay then you, doesn't mean you should leave.

No Valdes already said he was leaving for Monaco next year, he only stayed this year to finish his contract and go for free, instead of paying 15 to 20M Euros by Monaco to Barça. Monaco will give this amount directly to Valdes as a bonus. ( Valdes is against Rossell and refuses to stay under his direction).
There is a problem between players and the direction (Rossell), Xavi and Iniesta are for Cruyff and Laporta and against the actual direction, he is also angry after the departure of his psy fired by the direction...
He wants 17M euros contract, its incredible but he will have it :

  • Because he knows, Monaco,PSG,City and United can match that wage to bring him.
  • Because Rossell cant be the man who sad No to Iniesta.
  • He is 29 Years old, he knows this contract will be probably the last in his career.
The big problem is that i think those 3 are not the only ones who are angry about the direction, the squad didn\'t like what happened to Villa and Abidal imo....
My conclusion is that Iniestas moove is unlikely, but it shows big trouble in interior of the club.

^^ The sooner Rossell goes, the better. Laporta was fantastic, not least because he was a disciple of Cruyff.

Time for the club to purify itself. Iniesta will surely stay, once this nonsense is cleared up.

Iniesta said that he is in the renewal process and all of these talks are just BS.
