I think Oscar is an excellent player but....
I feel that all this talk about him being superior to Mata is merely pandering to Jose's decision making.
In short, Mata right now is still the superior footballer. Yes, he doesn't defend as vehemently but he's a CAM and that's not his main job. He's one of the best mids in the world and he certainly ticks all the other boxes.
If you asked me who I'd prefer on my team it would be Mata any day of the week. All this talk about how he isn't great this season is disingenuous because: 1-any player suffers from lack of minutes & 2-Mourinho's defensive tactics don't allow him to express himself.
He was easily Chelsea's best player for 2 seasons running. Now all of a sudden he doesn't warrant a place in the starting 11? Bullshit. Look, Oscar has great potential and I admire him. Not saying he shouldn't play or anything. It just rubs me the wrong way how some Chelsea fans have been slightly dismissive of Mata ex post facto Jose's decision making.
^Well it's either Mata or Mourinho. Which one do you thing the Chelsea fans will side with? A person who seems to be the only player not adapting to Mourinho's style but won our POTY for 2 years in a row, or the man who has put us 2 points away from top of the table and also has a long history with Chelsea.
By the way, you're wrong about his "lack of minutes". He's played 1083 minutes so far and hasn't proved to be a better player than Hazard, Willian, or Oscar so far.
You're probably right when you say he's superior to Oscar but he needs to prove it somewhere else in that case because we're not going to change our team's style to just fit Mata in.
But that's just it. The Chelsea fans have "sided" with Mourinho which is not unexpected. The point I was merel making is I think people saying he "dropped off" or is no longer that great are talking out of their asses.
Look, Jose is being typical Jose but Mata has been a perfect gentleman about the whole ordeal and if you were asking me, I'd say I'd side with him as what has happened seems a bit unjust. Anyway, I agree with you that he needs to leave ASAP as a player of his caliber has no business on the bench.
I'm sorry if I seemed like I was one of those Chelsea fans who said he "dropped off" but I don't think that though. Mata is definitely a fantastic player.
But I have a question for you: Why side with Mata?
Mourinho has played him a lot of times (1083 minutes to be exact) on the right, center, and left. He tried really hard but made no big impact most of the time and was weak when we were on the defense. Meanwhile, Oscar was also played on the right, center, and left but unlike Mata he made an impact most of the time no matter the position he was in. He was also defensively sound always making interceptions and stealing the ball from the opposition when they don't notice him.
When I first made this post I didn't say Oscar will be better than Hazard or Mata. I simply stated that he'll outshine them this season when he finds his proper position (CAM), which he has done.
Mata is without a doubt the better player until now, but I'd rather keep Jose's style and sell Mata. Mata deserves to start every game but for another team now.
one thing you guys never noticed is oscar can be a diver once in a while. Yesterday he purposepy dragged his foot onto the southampton keeper when he had a fckin open goal. i like the guy but he needs to stop simulation bad habit which csn lead to "diver" habits in the future.
^That was a very embarrassing move by Oscar yesterday and hopefully he doesn't make this a habit. Mourinho scolded him a bit and said in an interview that he doesn't want Oscar to dive again.
Yea vendettaa i saw that interview on someones thread. Bad move by Oscar but a stepping stone for the future.
Yea vensetta i saw that interview on someones thread. Bad move by Oscar but a stepping stone for the future.
@Ven, its not late to mention a horrible tackle from a few games ago.. And i bring it up becuase he shouldn't have taken part in the following games.
Mata to Inter!! He will never be left on the bench!!
So...
I guess we can have him. :D
Only if we get Rooney in exchange.
the future of brazil <3
Ah...
Then I'll have to pass
Nooooooo please! Please take the offer! Hell, we'll even add Torres to the deal as well! Y'know, THE Fernando Torres. The player who lead Chelsea the CL Final 2012 then won it, won the European and World Cup, won the Europa League (and scored in it), and won the FA Cup.
Don't waste this once in a lifetime chance! Who needs Van Persie when you've got Torres (can occasionally become the masked enigma that is Zorres!)
I love Oscar. He has it all. He'll outshine Hazard and Mata after this season when he finds his proper position at Chelsea. Just wait and see.
