How would you rate the new managers of top European clubs so far?
Dynastian98 11 years ago
Real Madrid 483 7140

Just give a rating out of 10 for the following managers, if you wish to do so. You don't have to rate/comment on all managers; you can only do the ones you're interested in commenting on/rating. You may also give an explanation if you feel like it. I know it's a bit early to judge, but the teams are beginning to take shape, and we should be able to see how these teams are forming up.

Manchester City - Manuel Pellegrini
Chelsea - Jose Mourinho
Manchester United - David Moyes
Everton - Roberto Martinez
Real Madrid - Carlo Ancelotti
Barcelona - Gerardo Martino
Paris Saint-Germain - Laurent Blanc
Monaco - Claudio Ranieri
Inter Milan - Walter Mazzarri
Napoli - Rafael Benitez
Bayern Munchen - Josep Guardiola

dont forget Valencia - Djukic

he has been shit, not being able to create any play whatsoever in the games against swansea, espanyol and betis (where we could have easily lost 5-0 if it wernt for our super keeper).. the win against Sevilla gave him some room to breath but he have to prove himself in the matches to come

You can add :
As Roma : Rudi Garcia
Malaga : Bernd Schuster

For me its early to judge them, but i can see Martino,Ancelotti and Benitez doing great, Rudi Garcia changed La Roma.

Pellegrini : 8.5/10
his team Dropped some points in EPL, but he needs time to adapt, good start in CL.

Mou : 6.5/10
Lost against Basel, didn't find yet his official team, having the best squad but not the best results.

Moyes :6.5/10
Too weak against Big teams. UTD lost their fighting spirit ????

Everton : ??? no idea who he is or what he's doing.

Carlo : 8.8/10
Build up a better team than Mourinho in 2 months, RM can finally have a team who wins games and play beatiful football. Makes all stars feel at their ease, he's a great coach.

Tata Martino :
8.8/10 0 pts dropped, supercopa in the poket, the first coach to decide changing Barça's way of playing, last game, Valdes never passed the ball to a defenser, we had 48 pr cent of pessession, from the first time since 2008 against Madrid in Bernabeu, he will try to find a lot of weapons to beat CL teams, he is what Barça needed since Guardiola left.

Laurent Blanc : 7/10
they sould be first, great start in CL....

Ranieri : 9/10
Awesome starting, he made a strong team in place in less than 2 months.

Inter : Can't have a judgement.

Benitez : 9.5/10
perfect starting of the season + won against Dortmund.

Guardiola : 7.5/10.
His team is strong but i can't see his personal touch yet.

Garcia : 9/10
Even if they lost a lot of players, Marquinho, lamela, Rudi gave his some stability and strenth in the defense, he's very underrated, he was the man who gave Hazard his chance in France.

Schuster : 8.5/10
after Malaga lost all their main players, and have a limited budget, schuster is doing very well.

It still my opinion and could change, with teams progression.

Here's mine.

Pellegrini - 8/10

Has had a decent start, but the loss to Cardiff and another 2 points dropped can raise concerns and questions. But the 4-1 victory against United is a very positive thing, and so is the good start to the CL season.

Mourinho - 7/10

He hasn't had the best of starts, but he can certainly do better. Still, it isn't the dream start that all Chelsea fans wanted to see. He just needs to quickly figure out his winning formation.

Moyes - 6.5/10

It was always going to be a difficult task to continue the legacy of Sir Alex Ferguson, but Moyes has it very hard so far. Results is what the United faithful want, and results is what he needs to deliver soon. Also, he needs to give more playing time to Kagawa and Chicharito and remove Young from the squad.

Ancelotti - 8/10 or 8.5/10

He is doing pretty well so far. Madrid fans expect bigger wins, but as the league gets more and more competitive, it will be harder and harder to not drop points.

Martino - 10/10

I see absolutely nothing wrong in Martino's results or game-play. Absolutely perfect start for him so far. There is still much to be desired though, in terms of facing tough opposition like Atletico Madrid.

Blanc - 7.5/10

With the squad that he has, he should do better. 3 wins and 3 draws from his first 6 matches isn't what PSG is used to.

Ranieri - 9/10

A great job so far of building together a team with players who have been recently bought.

Benitez - 9.5/10

Perfect start to Serie A season, and he has beaten Dortmund. A great job so far.

Guardiola - 9/10

Despite what people say, he has only dropped points once so far, and it was a draw. Although there is much to be desired against teams like Dortmund and Chelsea, he is doing a good job so far, and I am happy to see that. Perhaps he won't be as successful as Heynckes was in his final season, but don't forget that Heynckes won absolutely nothing in his first season at Bayern too. Results will come in time.

I personnaly cant rate Martino better than Benitez or Garcia, even if i want to, because they might have the same results, but they dont have same quality.
Its easier for Carlo/Tata to have results than Benitez/Garcia that's why i rated them a little bit higher.
Mourinho maybe should be rated a little bit higher tham Moyes.
7/10 for Mou may be resonable.

Benitez is definitely the stand out manager for me. His tactical nous is unbelievable. Arsenal-Napoli is going to be a cracker to watch, both teams in very good form. Its crazy how he was being booed out by Chelsea fans last year. With a full pre season, i think he would have been doing a lot better at Chelsea.

Mourinho has had a difficult start and I think this will the perfect example to see whether he can adapt his style to a different style of team. He no longer has a Carvalho/Terry(at his peak) as his CB's with a traditional winger in Robben and Drogba up front. He now has a team suited more to Guardiola's style. Will be interesting to see how he adapts.

Moyes has had a very difficult run so its difficult to judge him, but some of his team selections have been questionable, which should not be the case.

Tata is trying to play a different less tiki taka style and I think that will aid them greatly in the CL final stages against German/English/Italian opposition

Pellegrini has been great against teams that play open attacking football but I am still not a 100% sold on teams that are very disciplined at the back and throw more than 5-6 players back to defend. Should hopefully do decent in the CL.

Best managers so far : Roberto Martinez (Everton is atm the only unbeaten team in the PL) and Rafa Benitez (Napoli has a huge chance now winning the Serie A because they have a very strong squad).

Moyes - got the hardest it of all others, he's expected to win, you just can't find someone like SAF
Guardiola - I don't like what he's doing with Bayern, bringing that "tiki-taka" boring style..

If you think Guardiola is bringing the boring style to Bayern, you should watch their demolition of Schalke 04. This Bayern team is going to be unbeatable.

Don't be so hard on Moyes ffs. Don't forget Sir Alex also lost to City 6-1. Give Moyes time.

Tiki-taka was played by the best Brazilan team in History, by the greatest Milan...
It's not Tiki-taka the problem, it was the way it was used past 2 years with no variations and no taking chances.
I can not let you say something i found it a bit stupid cause Arsenal used to pass a lot in their glory years.
You will never enjoy this style if you dont take in consideration the dificulty of the execution, it seems easy to watch but i invite you to execute 36 accurates passes with your team and score.
It looks beautiful when another teams did it but too mainstream when its Barça.
Pep Barça played the most beautiful Football i've seen in my life, but with Tito it was boring...
Judging a playing style by choosing the worst year is a little biased but when its not always Messi who should save the team, Barça will be better.

Pellegrini is doing fine so far. Beat Man United and a first opening day win in the UCL for Man City.

Mourinho not so much, poor form in all competitions, but just like Mourinho he will pick up the pace and become great.

Moyes hasnt been great so far. but its early and its the first new manager for United in 20 plus years.

Roberto Martinez is making waves so far at Everton so i say hes doing great so far.

Ancelotti is doing well enough, Other then the draw with Villareall madrid hasnt skipped a beat.

For us Martino is amazing so far And i couldn't ask for better.

Laurent blanc is okay, nothing out of the ordinary for a club of PSG's size with there players.

Ranieri is leading the Monaco revival just the way as planned, with wins after wins and even keeping last years champs at bay

Walter Mazzari is also leading the Revival of Inter in a good way too, 3rd in Italy so far.

Rafa is making his presence known so far, great despite the hiccup vs Sassuolo

And my very favourite of the lot, pep Guardiola, is following his predecessor precisely and hasnt skipped a beat either, of course :)

I cant say Djukic has been too good but not horrible.. Valencia is picking up the pace recently in the past 2 games with 2 wins.and desperately need to keep that form ... if they want to get back up the Liga table.

Rudi Garcia for Roma has been phenomenal.

so my numbers would be

Pellegrini 8/10
Mourinho 5/10
Moyes 5/10
Roberto Martinez: 10/10
Ancelotti 9/10
Martino 10/10
Blanc 9/10
Monaco 9/10
Inter 8/10
Napoli 9/10
Guardiola 10/10

Djukic 5/10

Rudi Garcia 9/10

@kenkichiotaka: You got most of them right but how does Rafa get a 7? He is top of the league and top of his group in the CL iirc.
