This is exactly why the teams at the top of the list have had less success in the past years, and why teams that are on the lower end of the list succeeded. Tottenham literally released all of their best players, Loris will most likely be next.
@messi6511I don't think that Tottenham/Real/Porto/Liverpool now have less success than in recent years.

We are such a bad sellers, we sell for half price each time except for Yaya Toure. RM changed the squad many times and Portuguese clubs did some good buisness....
I don't really understand what I'm seeing here. I want to say that it's money earned through transfers but I don't see how Madrid would have earned 303m after buying kaka, ronaldo and bale. Anyone care to clear that up for me ?
^ Players you buy dont count, only players sold. Barça/Real would have a negative balance if it was counted.
@fabryi, I slightly disagree with you.
But more specificly I was talking about teams like Arsenal, whose players go on to title winning teams. It is important that Arsenal holds on to players like Wilshere, like fabregas, if they want to continue to compete with teams with such great financial budgets and scouts such as Chelsea and Man City.
I was talking about teams like AC and Inter Milan, teams that are nothing compared to what they used to be.
Think about it. Liverpool didn't get better after selling torres, or alonso. Perhaps they would not have been this good if they sold Suarez.
I know this will be a bad arguement, but Porto is Porto lol. They can make players 20 times better, and for them allowing a good player to leave is not disasterous.
Real Madrid? Selling Ozil was never a great choice, it has impacted Madrid as well as Ozil himself.
Bayern is exactly the opposite, from the teams listed on the table. They are a "buying club". They buy good players, but they don't sell good players. Allowing them to have a good squad depth.
Do you get my point?
@Messi
Not really. After selling Ozil, we have finally achieved that perfect formation in which we can cover our defense and still have a lethal attack. Ozil would have never fit in with this system. This 4-3-3 requires midfielders with engines inside of them, and Ozil, despite all his talent, has garbage stamina. He just wouldn't fit in (like poor Isco at the moment). It was best for him to move on.
I agree with dynastian in that the Ozil sale didn't hurt Real. Actually, it was in my opinion a win/win/win situation. Madrid got to move on to the 4-3-3, Ozil got game time, and Arsenal got a world class number 10.
I think the time when Arsenal was selling their best players is behind us. No one left last summer, I don't expect anyone from the starting 11 to leave this summer either. What we need is to buy, but we need to buy big. The kind of players who change a team. Before the injuries we also showed that we could be title challengers. I think Arsenal is becoming attractive again.
@King
I don't think any Arsenal players want to leave anyways. They know their team is capable of performing, but they do not have the right squad depth (and in my opinion - the right manager. But that's a debate for another time). The Arsenal board just need to start incrementing their spending, and they will be able to compete for trophies more convincingly next time.
Interesting. Surprised Benfica aren't ranked higher with sales of Di Maria, Coentrão, Matic, Ramires, David Luiz, Witsel, Javi Garcia, Rodrigo and more. A profit-listing would change the figures significantly.
@messi yes, now I get you :) but it depends on which team specially you look at.
Rodrigo? He's still at Benfica...
@Keisuke: Rodrigo's economic rights were sold to a private company for €40 million two months ago. Same with André Gomes' for €20 million. Both remaining with Benfica until the end of the season.
I literally threw up my tea when I read Portsmouth. I completely baffled by this, how did this championship team make 119.5M by selling players? Not a single other division B team in there. What. The. Hell.
@dynastian @king henry
Lol one supports club that had Ozil and other one who bought Ozil from that club . Please tell me more how sale of Ozil did not hurt Real and how Ozil did not change anything in Arsenal ... lol
Only Germany always happy to have Ozil in starting line up ahead of many great talents with super staminas . Well Germany is average team with average players and average coach .. I guess ..

It is Ajax who are terrible sellers . They give out their talents for cheap who go on to become top players in a matter of a year . I expected Ajax to be way higher .
LOl and Aston Villa made so many sales all thanks to Liverpool and Manchester United buying overrated and overpriced players .

@marcus I invite you to read my comment again, it explains very simply why everyone won in the transfer.
^ Marketting and quality signing at the same.
Ozil money was not a waste, they would have more problems if they failed to attract someone this summer.
Arsenal is clearly more attractive than last year, and Ozil buy give interested players on joining Arsenal some guarantees.
