Has Cristiano Ronaldo ever played better football in his career?
Dynastian98 11 years ago
Real Madrid 483 7140

He's been just amazing to watch recently. I mean, people will always make excuses for his performances (e.g. Messi still better, "If Messi wasn't injured, he would outscore Ronaldo", Ronaldo still only has 3 trophies with Madrid, still stuck on one Ballon d'Or, etc.). But since the start of this season, he's been on fire. 24 goals and 4 assists in 17 appearances show how good he is. He's scored as many league goals as Ibrahimovic and Messi combined. He's scored only one less goal than Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic COMBINED.

Personally, I am pretty damn sure that Ribery is going to win the Ballon d'Or. But with Ronaldo's performances, he should surely beat Messi to 2nd place. In fact, I think that Ibrahimovic should be 3rd, and Messi 4th (Ballon d'Or will now have 5 finalists instead of 3, with 3 winning the Golden, Silver, and Bronze balls, and 2 of them not winning anything). But in terms of individual performances, Ronaldo surely tops this entire calendar year ahead of everyone.

Ronaldo has also scored 62 goals for club and country this calendar year, 17 more than Messi (who was injured for a bit of the season). But even without Messi's injury, it's hard to see Ronaldo NOT be ahead of him since 2013. His goal+assist per game record (1.57) is better than Messi's in 2013 (1.55). And what's more, he's never lost a game with Real Madrid in which he has found the back of the net (excluding that own goal against Granada, lol). With 225 goals, he is only behind Ferenc Puskas (242), Carlos Santillana (289), Alfredo Di Stefano (305), and Raul (323) in Madrid's scoring charts. He's scored more goals in 5 seasons than most Madrid players have in 10 years.

Carlo Ancelotti - "For me, the best player right now is Cristiano Ronaldo"

Arsene Wenger - "Messi was on top until now. But since last year, maybe Ronaldo is in front. He very athletic"

Luis Figo - "With his quality, what he stands for, and his performance in every game, he can always win the Ballon d'Or"

If the Ballon d'Or is going to be based on individual performances like it has been for the last couple years, then Ronaldo ought to win it. But if it will be based on team accomplishments as well as individual performances, then Ribery must surely be the winner.

Heck, if I knew Ronaldo would get so motivated by being criticized, I would pay Blatter money to publicly mock Ronaldo, so that the man can go on and score goal after goal.

"The year started in january, not in september" YOU DON'T SAY GENIUS?
Ronaldo got 29 points (at least do your fucking calculations right)
Ribery without team trophies 30 points, without doubled trophy points, 27

"Ratio shots / goals per game in the club: 1. Lionel Messi ( 69 shots, 14 goals , 1 goal every 4.9 shots ) 2. Franck Ribery ( 48 shots , 9 goals , 1 goal every 5.3 shots ) 3.Cristiano Ronaldo (130 shots, 24 goals , 1 goal every 54 shots )"

What is more important 14 goals from 69 shots or 24 goals from 130 shots? It's like comparing Xavi 1 000 000 passes witch are completed as an example 90%. With Mertesacker 100 passes with accuracy of 95%, but in the end what matters? Mertesacker passes to Szczesny or Xavi final passes?

@Dynastian we all know that Ronaldo goal ratio/match apps is really incredible 62 goals from 54 matches, but this picture is bit bullshit. Arsenal only played 30 Premier League matches in 2013 and scored 58 goals which make 1,93 goals per match. Liverpool only played 29 Premier League matches in 2013 with 61 goals with 2.1 goals per match.

^lol Dynast ^^

@kinghenry Following your logic, if i had to pick up 3 players in my team i would pick Messi first anytime, Ronaldo second, and maybe Thiago Silva without looking to the year they had because i will always choose the best potential, but i still think that Ballon d\\\' or is combining form,potential and achievements.....

@Golden Zlatan and Ronaldo will fight for World cup ticket and Ballon d\\\' Or in their play off game, the looser of the double confrontation cant win Ballon d\\\' Or as he even not qualified to World cup.
The year is finished for only Messi, Ribery Zlatan and Ronaldo must qualify to have a chance, that will be decisive...

@Quikzyyy

Lol, relax mate. I hope you realize that people made similar jokes about Messi outscoring the entire AC Milan and Liverpool squad's a year or two back, and Milan and L'pool fans took the joke lightly. Ronaldo outscoring all of the six big teams in England is nothing short of legendary. It doesn't matter if Arsenal's goal per game ratio is 1.93, because that's 11 or more players COMBINED making that ratio. Ronaldo's 62 goals have been scored by him and him ONLY. That's stuff of legend right there.

^^ Or it says a lot about the defenses he is facing. :p

But I think you missed the point that quik was making. If you were to take into account all the cup games and European games these teams were also included in, in 2013, they'd blow Ronaldo out of the water. Hence quik's point that the picture is bullshit. It is. Sorry. :/

^ Err, yes, and the same thing was done with the Messi - Liverpool meme, no? Liverpool scored something like 57 league goals that season, and Messi scored 60 in all competitions. I don't see why the picture is bullshit. It shows that one player has scored more goals in all competitions in a season than any of the big clubs in England have in the Premier League.

It's obvious that all competitions were not considered for the EPL teams, but it does not matter. It is still an unbelievable accomplishment.

@Dynastian I'm okay with it, but these pictures from troll football are sometimes really stupid. Lodatz explained it better than me.

Calm down guys.
Forget all your Messi and Ronaldo.
Ribery will get it, and he deserves it.
He was by far the best player in the best team last year, just accept it.

@netsten

That's exactly what we were debating. Whether it will go to the best individual player of the year (Ronaldo), or the most influential player of the year (Ribery).

if France will fail qualify to world cup, Ronaldo's chances will be highly increased.

previous season Messi was better, but right now it is Ronaldo, right now Ronaldo is playing the best Football of his career, i think he is at his peak right now, i can't even imagine Messi's peak if this is Ronaldo's. But in all honesty i would like to see Ribery hold up the Ballon d'Or.

and @Dynastian what do you mean by Ronaldo scoring 61 goals on his own?

Dynastian98 11 years ago
Real Madrid 483 7140

@WayneRooney

I mean exactly what I said. He scored 62 goals (63 now with the POR - SWE game) this calendar year. The record for most goals in a calendar year is Messi (91), then Muller (85), then Pele (81), then Zico (75), and finally C. Ronaldo himself holds the record for fifth most goals in a calendar year (72). He is (hopefully) on his way to beat his own record.

i don't know how anyone could say messi deserves ballon'dor he has been constanly injured and hasn't perforemd as well as ribery and ronaldo. for me ronaldo deserves it more than anyone. ribery is influential but his whole team is great. ronaldo is practically caring real madrid on his shoulders in terms of goals. ronaldo all the way

And I'm pretty sure Messi didn't break 125 records in one year. That makes no sense whatsoever. You clearly don't understand the difference between a Ronaldo FAN and a Ronaldo fanBOY.
