^^ Those were the days. Glorious decade of football.
were overrated in England but these two are amaaaaaazzzzzzzzzziiiiinnnnnng Players, still love them
My favorite English midfielders are: Lampard, Gerrard & Scholes. :)
For those that haven't realized, I'm requesting that FootyRoom put these two legends in their Hall of Fame (located in the 'Extras' tab) for the year 2000-2010.
Agree!
Especially when there is Kaka and Beckham!
Also wondering why there is no Cruyff!
Footyroom is only doing a top 10.. although I would love to see them on the list there is no room for them.
I would actually say that neither Beckham or Kaka deserve the spot of "10 Best players of 2000-2010". So Lampard and Gerrard replacing them seems fine by me.
Except that you forgot Raul. :P
It shouldn't only be 10 players. So many players deserve to be in the hall of fame.
@ Dyn
I would respectfully disagree. Kaka before 2009 was unstoppable and Beckham was an English icon who then become a world footballing icon.

I know.. There were so many amazing players in the 2000-2010 period. Gerrard, Lampard, Raul, Casillas, Cannavaro, Roberto Carlos, Totti, Pirlo etc etc. I wonder what the list will be by 2020:P

Maybe they could do it as pages of hall of famers instead of a top ten list.
@tdot
Well the Kaka thing can be argued both ways, so I guess it's just that we have different opinions.
But for Beckham, you took the words right out of my mouth. He is an ICON. A popular, sexy, money-making ICON. Not a "legend". Yes, he was indeed a great player, but not as good as the likes of Henry, Figo, Zidane, or O Fenomeno. Paul Scholes was a better footballer than David Beckham.
I actually find both Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard to be better than Becks.
@ Dyn
I guess you're right about the Beckham thing. So who would you have replace Beckham? Very hard question indeed..
^ Raul. Played alongside so many brilliant strikers, and still managed to squeeze out 323 goals for us. He was also one of the best players of his generation. Very much deserves it more than Beckham.
But there's a lot more too. Maldini, Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Cannavaro, Pirlo, Casillas, and co. were all considered some of the best of their generation.
