The Italian club will pay 37 million euros plus 3 million in bonuses. The player will earn 6 million a year.

Gonzalo Higuaín is about to become a Napoli player with the Italian club reaching a deal with Real Madrid to buy the striker for 37 million euros plus another potential three million more in bonuses. Higuaín will earn six million a year, one more than he is currently on at Real Madrid. An official announcement is expected soon.

The player’s preferred destination was Arsenal, but the Gunners weren’t willing to pay more than 28 million for him. With that move stalled the Higuaín started talking to Napoli and agreed personal terms.

Higuaín then is leaving the club he arrived at as a youngster, destination Napoli and Benítez.

Thanks PSG. Thanks a bunch. 'Nother one bites the dust :/
I would've liked to seen him in red and white as I've watched him since he was at River and let me tell you, Madrid hadn't scratched the surface of his full potential. But at that price I'm glad we didn't go for him. Mad valuation... Napoli can have him. I just hope for his sake he can revive his career there.

But it's times like this when I ask, wouldn't it have been better to swallow our pride and buy a David Villa for 6m?

Don't get me wrong, I know that winger wants bigger fish than Villa this summer but... It's not like we have a plethora of CFs. Giroud... That's it. Still think Aspas or Villa should've been our supplementary striker signing (aside from the marquee one). Also still in DIRE need of a dedicated CDM.

Seeing the price at which Villa went to Atletico, I don't think he wanted to go to England.

@Fred: quite the opposite. His father revealed in an interview that he was literally all set to go, and had planned on it, but Tottenham dithered and never made a good enough offer to Barcelona, so Barca sold him on the cheap (but still, amazingly, more than Spurs offered) to Atleti.

I just have this funny feeling that Arsenal will end up buying Damiao...

Damiao? I highly doubt that. That was ur baby... But I think one of the money clubs in Russia are tring to buy him last I heard.
I think for us, as mad as it sounds, it's Suarez or bust now. Scary thought.

Much as I dislike the guy, in terms of playing style, Suarez would suit Arsenal down to the ground. Would Liverpool sell to a PL club, though, is the big question...

Forget about Suarez now, Madrid has enough money to sign him. Arsenal should have bought him before the sell of Higuain. They had more chances, actually it's complicated since Suarez is the first choice of Madrid now.
