Fox Sports’ Football/Soccer Coverage Empire

As of right now, Fox Sports has rights to the Gold Cup, FA Cup, World Cup, Confederations Cup, Women’s World Cup, Bundesliga, Champions League, along with many more rights.

That alone just proves they have way too much rights. But I think their coverage has been improved.

It just seems like yesterday, Gus Johns- sorry GUS JAWNSHON was calling footy and making an absolute fool of Fox Soccer’s coverage. Everyone football soccer fan based in the U.S. was scared that Fox would f up the 2018 World Cup. But ever since Gus’ departure from calling the sport, Fox Sports has become actually pretty decent in my opinion.

They hired Friedel, Holden, and Joy. THE Ian Joy as pundits and they’ve done good jobs. They replaced Johnson with John Strong, who’s a very strong match commentator if you know what I mean. Their Women’s World Cup was pretty good and I like their Bundesliga coverage…that is, when they aren’t neglecting it and putting all the games on Fox Soccer Plus.

But there is one decision where they screwed up big time…

I’m sorry, but I despise Lalas with a burning passion! From hating JK, to spewing nonsense, to hating JK. Goal.com comments have more insight than him!

Though I do agree that ESPN, NBCSN, and even BeIN do better jobs than Fox Sports. Fox Sports isn’t that well, awful anymore. It’s gotten better. Though they still have their issues such as Fox Soccer Plus/2go or whatever that is and/or annoying pundits such as Lalas and Barton. I think they have improved. The Copa America will be their second true test if people can take their coverage seriously. The Women’s World Cup final scored 24 million viewers. And it was on Fox Sports. I’m not praising Fox Sports, heck; I still have issues with their football/soccer coverage. But I personally think they’ve improved.

When the commentary is bad there is 1 solution mate! Gift some beers to the funniest lad and let him do it ;)

I've hated everything soccer-related I've seen on FOX and NBC.

In Canada, Sportsnet is just as bad, but TSN is really good.

@SunFlash Really? I have never really liked TSN and I have always preferred Sportsnet.

I like TSN because they don't pick sides. They just sit there and talk about what's happening in front of them, not who should be doing this and who should be doing that. They're also very calm and professional, which is a nice difference from the FOX NBC crowd who are either super critical or yell GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL all the time because they have no idea how to provide commentary.

Sportsnet isn't as bad as those two, but I've still never enjoyed it. I do quite like the team of Kristen Jack and Luke Wileman. Jason DaVos is also very good, and I appreciate his defensive insight.
