When I found out that FOX Sports had rights to the Bundesliga, I was ticked! I mean, how are they going to screw it up this time?

But my first impression of their coverage was actually pretty positive. There was no Lalas, The panel was tolerable, and the commentators were actually really good. It wasn’t ESPN’s World Cup coverage or NBCSN’s Premier League coverage but I enjoyed it. It also managed to change my outlook on FOX Sports’ football/soccer coverage…that is, until they started to neglect it.

Why? Poor ratings. Instead they decided to show NASCAR. They put all the games on Fox Sports 2 (Including the First Der Klassiker) with a limited panel to a guy off-screen there talking about the Bundesliga.

Then after the New Year, They decided to take their Bundesliga coverage serious again. Putting some games on FOX. Yes, FOX. Including Bayern vs Leverkusen, which was hyped up to be a big thing.

Then it went downhill after that. I think there have been a total of four. Yes, FOUR Bayern games on Fox Soccer Plus. Including the second Der Klassiker. But at the last minute, FOX decided to put it on FX.

The real shame here is that when FOX did the Bundesliga coverage right. They did it right! Joy was a fantastic host and I enjoyed listening to Kriovski and Hitzelberger! But when they do it wrong, it’s not only annoying; it’s insulting to the Bundesliga fanbase here in the U.S!

So on a scale of 1 to 10, how would I rate FOX’s Bundesliga coverage? When they do it right 7.5 or 8 of out 10. When they do it wrong, a 2. I’m just hoping that FOX learn from its mistakes for next season. And knowing that they have with the whole Gus Johnson situation, I think they can most definitely improve!

I watch almost all my games online. Much easier that way.

FOX and NBC are both awful when it comes to soccer. Bad commentators, bad halftime analysis, and terrible promotion of the games.
