FootyRoom Poll #6 - Hall of Fame (2000-2010)
Dynastian98 11 years ago
Real Madrid 483 7140

So I remember Vendetta posted a request on putting Lampard and Gerrard into the HoF of 2000-2010, and that got me thinking. What IS the HoF of 2000-2010? Which players would be in it?

Who better to ask but you guys. Here are the rules.

You may post 15 players.
Those 15 players must have played at least 5 years within the decade of 2000-2010.

Other than that, I don't see any limitations. :P

Have fun guys! Last time enough people didn't participate for me to put results, so I'm hoping you guys post more often now. :D

@Dynastian: Do we still have to include the ones already in the FR Hall of Fame or can we just count them as hall of famers already?

@Don: I do, yes. Iniesta is probably Spain's greatest ever player. While he and Xavi might have learned from Scholes, I think Andres (at least) has surpassed him.

Xavi vs Lampard is a bit different, as they are different types of midfielders, but I'd say that Xavi has had more of an impact on the whole of football, changing the way we think about midfield play.

Of course, at this level, we're talking really fine margins. There are lots of players who other people might think should be in this list (Nedved, Kaka, Figo, Beckham), but those are my personal favorites.

@Ven

You make your own list. Whether you include the players in the FootyRoom existing HoF is up to you.

Bump. Keep em coming guys. We don't have enough polls to confirm the final results yet.

@Lodatz

@rama: LOL. It's from 2000-2010, dude. Unless Di Stefano has been pulling a sneaky, age-defying stunt, I think he's a little out of the running... ;)

And while I admire and respect Raul, I think he's overshadowed by the others on my list. Like I said, there will always be disagreement, but those are my personal choices.

'@Don: I do, yes. Iniesta is probably Spain's greatest ever player.'

You are saying that he is Spains best player ever.

Ohhhh.

Yep, I stand by that statement.

So you really are saying that Iniesta has passed Raul and Di Stefano? Shit!

Sure, why not? Iniesta has won 6 league titles, and 3 CLs (same as Raul), plus 2 European Championships, and a World Cup (scoring the winning goal). And Di Stefano was a great for Madrid, but he did next to nothing for Spain (let's not forget he only got to switch to Spanish nationality because the rules were different back then, too).

Di stephano was Argentinian ?? Iniesta is the best spanish player ever, i 100% agree.

Best player of the Euro, with Villa contributed a lot in the only world cup Spain won, won everything with Barça and we wouldnt go to CL final without his miraculous goal, and his career is not done yet.

To choose the best player ever of a country, i only focus on the impact of the player on national team : Maradona is the greatest for argentinians because of his world cup results.....

Same for Zidane vs Platini, i am with the ones who think Zidane was the greatest French player ever, Platini probably 2nd.

So, yes in term of impact, Iniesta did better than Raul and Distephano with Spain, no doubt.
