In a premier league title drought since 2004, some Arsenal fans worldwide think they owe this french fairy their club's life because Arsenal were good when they had Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. C'mon people let's give credit where credit is due that team was stacked. Thierry Henry is a god. Anyway....... "Specialist" Wenger has a stranglehold on this club and after seeing every game for the past 7 or 8 years I KNOW they will be better with a new coach. Hell, if you lose 3 straight games at Chelsea you're fired. If you don't win the treble at Madrid you're fired. If you're not top spot at Barcelona, Man City, Bayern or any of these major clubs you're out, quick! Wenger's been dragging us through the desert with nothing for over a dozen years now and it's time to move on. Arsenal are the 5th most valuable club in the world and it's time we start acting like it. No one gives a fuck if you make the Champions League 40 years in a row if you make a polite exit in the round of 16 every year... WENGER OUT!!!!!! In the words of Ricky Bobby: Hell, if you ain't first, you're last.

@SteveBould First off, I don't know if you been a long time user or not but I would like to welcome you on Footyroom. Good to have you on FR lad, secondly, even though I'm not an Arsenal fan, I would like to say I mostly agree with you, despite having done some great good to Arsenal in the past, Wenger have shown quite a few stupid decision in his time since then and the results he have provided while consistent (nearly alway top four) doesn't show much sign of improvement. As a Arsenal fan, I would expect more from the board and manager. I also understand people who want to keep Wenger and trust in him because of what he has done but if I was a fan, I would propably want him gone sooner or later.

It's an interesting question, Wenger's job.

Here's how I look at it. If you have Wenger, you compete for the title, and get top four without exception every year. If you sack Wenger, you might get a title. On the other hand, there is an excellent chance that you do worse.

I'm not an Arsenal fan. That risk is up to you.

@Sunflash Interesting point Sun, guess it would depend on the manager, after all, I feel like too many Arsenal fan expect anyone to be better than Wenger while I fear it is not the case, but there is a few good manager that could become available for Arsenal in the near future.

Arsenal shows how business should be done. Low budget, high profit. Top 4 with a UCL knockout stage every year. I believe Wenger's hands are tied when it comes to transfers in that he is given a fixed budget. Firing him is the most stupid thing Arsenal could do. By the way, he got Arsenal a brand new stadium didn't he?

Arsenal was managed like a midtable club by their owner, sorry to say that. He completely ignored the sportive to make profit and to build a stadium without touching the personal pocket. Wenger loyalty costed him trophies not the opposite, imagine if went to City or United he would have been a traitor but he would have won trophies...
Now a new Arsenal is starting to develop, being able to keep their key players and making some additions from time to time while In the recent past their star/key players went to opposition and won the title for them...

Now for me the question is simple, is Arsène responsible for the economical aspects of the club he coaches ? When you see City/United offering a 300k/week contract to a signing could Arsenal compete with this despite having money to spend on transfers ?
Arsenal is to be blamed last year for wasting a big chance of winning the trophy but the years before, only direction is to be blamed imo...

@tiki Wenger said he wouldn't do it again if he got a chance.

As all people blame Wenger for not spending, it's wrong. The club is making offers, it's not Wenger who is making 50,01M bids.
I can imagine him telling board sign this and this guy, but board reply is simple: we won't give you that amount. And personally as sometimes I don't understand his choices of picking a team, making subs, we should all be grateful that he is still with us. Once he leaves we may be in big trouble, just look at United, even with that amount of money are nowhere near the United of SAF.

And for people who wants him out, who do you want to coach us?
