For too long now FR has been plagued by countless trolls ruining this website for the good members. It has recently been discovered that these countless trolls are in fact one troll. One troll who is proving to be the disease of FR and indeed the Gollum of FR.

The following ppl are all the same person and from now on will be referred to as Gollum; dar10, thumbsdownwhore, George bush, bin laden, fatguyinfrontofpc, fru_tool, mrarse500, arsenalgunners, master, captain, gingerpig, jay hooper, jimmy saville, kingtotti. There will be even more im sure and for those who do not know what a Gollum is, please see the below video and im sure you will agree this is the plague of FR we all curse.

I say to FOOTYROOM; we the members of FR have had enough and we want this dealt with NOW!

The disgusting posts of Gollum in the highlights section and in the forum cannot be tolerated anymore. We all appreciate this is a unique situation and that FR does not have the time to trawl through its website and deal with such a persistent virus.

As a result I am suggesting that one of the mods be given supermod status. IMO this should be JimSkeleton. this might be new territory to a website such as this but its the only way as banning an ip address can be got around fairly easily.

So FR simply give Jim access to suspend accounts. you can still ban them if you wish but just let Jim be able to suspend them. he is here a lot, we all trust him and he can work quickly and autonomously to disable Gollum and his countless accounts.

This situation is actually getting worse as Gollum is now moving onto new ground and duplicating other members accounts. Today he has set up an account called AjaxDeSuperYid (no S on the end of Yid) and is running around pretending to be me. who will he do this to next and what new ground will he look for in the coming days?

To get FR to sit up and listen and grant Jim supermod status and finally deal with this issue, I am proposing that within this thread we have effectively a petition. Members reply to this thread simply saying yes I support this petition. we can then present this to FR in one clear voice saying NO MORE GOLLUM.

I genuinely believe this idea to be the only way to kill Gollum and this petition the only hope we have in FR listening.

@ lodatz you are confusing smeagol with Gollum. smeagol is the good side and Gollum is the troll. can you state in one separate post that you support the petition pls

@ASDY: I assure you I am not confused. Smeagol is simply his original name, and Gollum is what everyone he knew started calling him when he started making that horrible noise.

And sure, I think this is a decent idea, but, ultimately, I'm not sure this will kill the problem, and here's why:

Have you ever read Animal Farm? There's a power struggle between the pigs known as Napoleon and Snowball. Napoleon secretly trains up some of the dogs to be loyal to him only, and when the time is right, he sets them upon Snowball, who is chased away and never heard from again.

However, Snowball then becomes an excuse and a scapegoat for every single thing that goes wrong. Every time something turns out badly, Napoleon and his cronies tell the other animals that Snowball is secretly behind it. This means that none of their problems are fixed, because people just start accusing people of being in league with Snowball, like a witch-hunt.

If you do this, then every time someone has an argument with someone else, they will start accusing each other of being Gollum. every time someone posts something that a lot of people don't like, they'll be labelled as Gollum. We'll never be free of Gollum, because Gollum will always be what we call the problem.

I know you mean well, and I don't agree that you are also a troll, but, I think this won't really kill off Gollum. Speaking for myself, I'd be willing to give it a try, and JimSkeleton is definitely the person I would vote for, but, maybe we should just stick to the only tried-and-true method of dealing with trolls:

Ignore them, and thereby starve them?

I don't think that in future once this has kicked in and at the very least severely reduced Gollum's ability to troll, that when someone says something they don't like they would be accused of being Gollum. I just don't see that mate. Gollum is recognisable by his persistence and due to his small brain he uses the same comments over and over. trust me if FR runs with this it will work. can you put in one post that you support this cos ultimately when this is presented to FR all other posts in this thread will be deleted first
