Firstly I would like to thank everyone at FC Barcelona where I enjoyed 3 wonderful years. It was my childhood club and I will always be proud and honoured that I had a chance to play for such a great team.

I do feel that I have unfinished business in the Premier League and now is the right time for me to return. Yes, everyone knows that Arsenal had the first option to sign me. They decided not to take this option and therefore it wasn't meant to be. I wish them well in the future.

I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies. They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can't wait to start playing.

It was extremely important to me that this transfer was completed before the World Cup so that my mind will only be focused on hopefully helping my country try to retain the trophy.

I've been bracing myself mentally for this news but this is making me way more mad than I expected.

Arteta is not Arsenal material anymore. So let's keep him out. Rosicky is really old and should only be a sub at Arsenal. That leaves Ramsey, Ozil, Wilshere,Carzola, and oxlade. Keep in mind Carzola will be 30 THIS year. We play a 4-4-2 and what? we have 5 midfielders who can start in a midfield of 4 players. Say one gets injured and we're starting with the same four every game! That's not EPL top 3/contender material. Yes, one CDM is absolutely needed but I think we need another CM to have some actual rotation. Teams that don't rotate don't win the league. He would have cost us 30M? So what? Aurier would cost like 15m ( please pay that Wenger). That's 45M.
We have 55M left to get a CDM and a striker.

he was our best mid fielder statistically...but he never showed up in big games. (mostly because he was out of position in big games). I wanted him to start replacing Xavi, but obviously Xavi must still have alot of influence in club politics.

In big games, Fabregas was constantly caught in possession. Couldn't keep the ball with the slightest of challenges. Was not making any plays. Basically, it was as if we were playing one man down.

but, he's gone so whatever. Still upset we lost Thiago and Cesc because Xavi wants to keep ballin well past his prime. with all due respect, he is not Barca quality anymore.

Signing Modric would be extremely difficult, read my comment at the beginning of the thread, I mentioned Mou wanted to buy him out and put Ramires in the deal (Real wants him). But if Modric's ever for sale, then MANCHESTER UNITED will get him first, we already missed him once.

Pogba is easier to sign but, still very hard.

@tuan, yep Fabregas was available as barça didn't want him anymore, but both Pogba and Modric are in huge huge clubs that don't want to sell.
