Great info. Thanks for sharing.
Great post!
Fantastic post!
@Iraqi_Madridista, you're a joke
Good post. The Gurpegi red card was a joke, but all the other ones he received with Madrid were deserved.
Well since we discuss about a player who is considered one of the best in the history of football. I think we should know more about his actions. I don't think Gennady post this thread to throw mud at Ronaldo.
Every great player in the world has its bit of insane, which makes them real warriors of the pitch. Even if some of the fouls were a little clumsy or plain stupid, there is a reason behind each one. Hasn't everyone felt the need to hit the wall or something at least once? Only the very best get their red cards count articles to show that they are, indeed, human after all.
@Joe kos omak
Well said @Tuanis
@Iraqi, what about it? You need to mature quite a bit and no need to insult like that ...
I remember the city sending off for handball, he complained that he heard a whistle. Good times haha.
The first red card of Ronaldo's career came against Aston Villa, at the end of his first season with Manchester United in May 2004. He was booked initially for diving, before kicking the ball away earned him an early shower.
A lunging tackle on Andy Cole saw Ronaldo suffer his first straight red card in January 2006. The Old Trafford No.7 appealed, because he didn't actually make any contact on the Manchester City man despite the dangerous leap, but he was unsuccessful.
Appeared to headbutt Portsmouth's Richard Hughes in August 2007 so was swiftly booted back to the dressing room. Sir Alex Ferguson even agreed that Ronaldo deserved his sending off!
The ex-Sporting attacker picked up his fourth and final red card at Manchester United against noisy neighbours Man City. The first yellow was for a careless foul but the second for a bizarre handball in which Ronaldo inexplicably put his hands in front of his face instead of heading a cross inside the opposition's 18-yard box.
The first red card of Ronaldo's Real Madrid career came in December of his debut season in La Liga. He swung a boot (sound familiar?) at Juan Ortiz of Almeria and quickly kicked off the pitch by the referee himself.
The following month from the Portugal international's first sending off with Madrid, Ronaldo was at it again, this time versus Malaga! The Blancos were cruising towards victory when Ronaldo - accidentally, he stressed after the game - flung his elbow into Patrick Mtiliga's face, breaking his nose.
A day started so well for Ronaldo in the 2012-13 Copa del Rey final ended in disaster. He opened the scoring for Jose Mourinho's men but Atletico Madrid equalised and subsequently went ahead in extra-time. Ronaldo's frustrations got the better of him and he was sent off for a petulant altercation with Gabi.
Ronaldo could feel hard-done-by for being sent off against Athletic Bilbao last February. Carlos Gurpegi comically went to ground when Ronaldo's hand brushed his face, before Ander Iturraspe shoved his head in the Portuguese's face. Nonetheless, Ronaldo was red carded and his appeal dismissed.
The three-time Ballon d'Or winner's latest marching orders on Saturday in Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Cordoba. With the scoreline still level late in the game, Ronaldo swung at defender Edimar and the referee immediately red carded the forward.
