Why so rude on France ? What my friends and my family tell me. You are the specialist of unpopular opinions here in France a minority doubt on their national team.
That's what I face in real life for someone who has a different opinion than all the people and media who see France potentially already I the semifinals or more.
But I have my reasons to think it : Since 2014 and the pretty good WC, French coach had one thing, concentrate on a stable list of players that played most of the games, fact is that injuries happened, and other circumstances that affected the team that used to play together since 2014 to now.
3 month before, Deschamps main Cbs were Varane/Sakho with an established 9 Benzema and Lass as a Cdm, none of these established things were possible to apply few days before the start of the euros.
The expected leaders on the pitch Griezmann/Pogba had both +50 games season and don't look as fresh physically as other players, the changes affected the players with a sort of negative pressure each start of the game, the first 20 min of both games were complicated with all my respect to Romania or Albania that's not Germany or Spain, against them we could have conceded.
It could have been worse if the new faces who forced their last minute call didn't deliver Kante/Payet/Rami, Kante doesn't even have 5 selections on his CV he is playing like he was there for a decade, Payet well it's not the Payet of Marseille anymore something happened in PL I suspect a switch with ZIdane :) clearly changed my opinion on him.
Well let's face it, a team not stable in the back has no chance of winning it, France conceded occasions vs nations who aren't strong contenders, didn't conceded goals yet except the PK. But they didn't faced yet a big test Rami/koscienly applied only one game before the euro and remains untested yet imo.
We had certitudes about an established 4-3-3 Deschamps didn't added Gameiro and Ben Arfa for stability, we ended with 4 or 5 changes in the starting line up with no certitude about players who didn't faced yet high level of Cl final stages or international competitions carrying the team Kante/Payet, glad to see them in this level and fresh enough because they played less than 50 games this season. But we are far from the established contenders many French and non French see it.

I'm not only focused on negatives something I hear it often from my wife :) I try to be pragmatic and from another perspective I see France as the most physical team of the euro, the most explosive on counters... If the defense is solid and it's a major condition we can hit hard big nations and play better than against small teams. France isn't actually good in controlling tempo, we saw after the first 2 games that even with huge domination periods the team failed to score and scored only in last minutes means that the stamina is perfect, the mental too with the help of being the hosts, but also they need space and rival tiredness.

I believe France may hit big nations very hard but I wish them to avoid tempo teams Italy and specially Spain, if both end first they could met only in the final, Germany in the semi if France go that far.

My 2cents about my nation, I believe now after 2 games Spain and Germany are on the podium of contenders, Switwerland tomorrow is the game I am waiting for to see France real worth, not participating in the blind Optimism doesn't mean I don't support my country as I got thumbed down in the highlights section by probably my confident French compatriots.

Spain for the treble, Germany for the WC/Euros back to back, France the hosts. My 3, a coin on Poland before the start of the tournment to gamble :) those who bet Leicester last year were probably gambling :)
