Barcelona have announced on their official website that defender Eric Abidal will undergo a liver transplant in the next few weeks. So I would like to wish Abidal all the best. Get well soon Abi!

I'm afraid that Abidal will be weaker because it's a second operation.

Hope he he's ready to play in the CL final again.

This is terrible news. Hepatocellular Carcinoma (which is what I assume he has) has an avg. 5-year survival rate of 30-50%. The fact that he is young, fit, and wealthy enough to recieve top medical care will  certainly raise this figure but it is still no light matter. The good news is that liver transplant have been getting more successful through in the last decade but the long-term outlook is still not the greatest. I hope he recovers and has a successful operation.
