Looks decent. Probably not enough to take on Italy, but hopefully we stand a small chance against Uruguay.

Chris Smalling .... god why !? and Cleverly on standby list ...

England will qualify second behind Italy.

They pasted Phil Jones's head on James Milner's body. Young squad.

@mastertice1 They'll probably play 4-3-3 with Henderson - Gerrard - Wilshere and Sterling - Rooney - Sturridge.

For all the slack they're getting, I actually think England have a very good squad. I'll say they are better than Italy, they'll win their group if their players don't underperform.

Yea, me too. I think that England has very good offensive players and not bad in defense. Sterling is really brilliant, his pace, he create many chances. IMO it's going to be better tournament for England than in last few years.

I saw the players they had in 2010, and that time, the squad was really awful. Just looking at it hurt my eyes. This time around they'll be much stronger.

He should start with the Liverpool core. These guys are used to playing good football together, then build the squad around them. Defense would have been much easier if Terry was there, he would play with the Chelsea core in defense but it's very messed up without Terry..

I would start with:
Joe Hart
Johnson Cahil ( jones or Jagielka not sure..) Baines
Gerrard- Henderson
Sterling Barkley
Rooney
Sturridge

No Carrick... WHY? :'(

And is England really that much in need for quality CB that they had to call Smalling? Would it have been a sin to ask Terry if he wanted to join the squad one more time, just because they reeealy need him.

Also, what happened to Walker? I thought he was an alternative RB for the WC

This is a nice XI that could work out in the WC

Oh and btw... You dont stand a chance against the mighty Costa Rica! ;)

I like it, but would prefer Caulker over Jones.

Happy to see Barkley, Lallana, Sterling, Henderson, and Shaw in the squad. Valuable experience for those youngsters right there (excluding Lallana).

I wish Lallana was younger.

What is Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and bloody Glen Johnson doing here? Caulker could have taken Smallings place. Marshall should have replaced either Foster or Forster though both are very good keepers. Glen Johnson's place could have been taken by so many, Clyne, Lowton and Walker all would be better options. While Chris Smalling should have been replaced by Dann, Williamson or Shawcross.

@Dephased, I reckon it's mainly because Smalling and Jones are hybrid-like players, meaning they can play multiple positions at a good level, which I believe Hodgeson is always being very cautious when it comes to losing some key players due toinjuries during the World Cup.
