So, a new types of thread by your one and truly Emobot7. This time around, simple poll made with strawpoll, quick to do and funny as well. I don't think there's exact time when to sub a player, all depends on the game, expect you're Wenger and make sub every game around 70th minute.

@marcusrashford Of course, thats fine!

@quikzyyy I guess, but there is to be one moment that is a bit better most of time better. Thats what this thread is about. :P

There is no one time to substitute. It depends on what kind of substitution that you are making as a manager.

In your poll, I suggested the 30 mins before the end of the game because if we assume the hypothetical losing scenario (e.g. 1-0), then you want to give the attacker as much time as possible to integrate their influence into the match. However, if you are introducing a speedster striker, you might wait until the final ten minutes, when the defenders are totally run ragged.

In the case of a defensive substitution, a lead or draw is required, and I would recommend the sub come in whenever (a) you have just scored, or (b) the momentum has just shifted.

@Sunflash Yeah, I guess your right, I agree there must be a reason behind a sub, but in this case, lets pretend the game is a 0-0 and you want to push for a winning goal.

Even then it's subjective. Are you happy with the 0-0? A CDM might then be useful. But only if a certain defender is flagging, or has been exposed. If you want to win, then attacking options are great, but usually a CAM or winger is what is required, a like-for-like striker swap before the 80th minute is rare.

What I'm saying is that it's entirely dependent on your motivations.

@Sun I said earlier

lets pretend the game is a 0-0 and you want to push for a winning goal

I thought it was pretty clear that in that example, we weren't happy with the 0-0. :P
