Suarez deserved to be demonized. He made racist comments and literally bit people. Costa also deserves all the negative attention he gets, because he does things to warrant it.
It doesn't help that the "bad boy" vibe is pretty strong with him. Aguero is little, Costa is big. Aguero isn't as ugly as Costa. Superficial stuff, but it really does change public opinion.
You can make the argument that Costa gets more media attention and has a worse reputation than the other players that have been mentioned in this thread. But the fact remains that their punishments don't show an overindulgence by the authorities on their behalf. Like has been pointed out in this thread already, Costa has only received additional suspensions twice. Complain about the media all you like, but you have no case in the punishment department. The anti-Chelsea hysteria you claim to see everywhere simply doesn't exist.
@Marcus2011 Thats not entirely false, a lot of people in the media are ex Liverpool or Manchester player, I still think thats exagerating a bit. Beside, your making people worse than they are, yeah Costa still have a bad reputation but people are talking a lot less about it from what I seen.
Man there are many racist celebrities and politicians in the country who barely got same treatment by the media but footballer Suarez , who was proven guilty by the words from Evra and some 'amazing ' lip reader , was demonized to the point where he was compared to Hitler .. I will never believe Suarez is racist or he intended to say something racist but It might came out racist because our over sensitive society that gets offended by everything .
And it is amazing that United fans were so mad at Suarez not because he was allegedly racist towards Evra but because he was literally raping United every time they played and they wanted to see him punished and banned . Because come on when Uniteds fan base more than half in Britain are far right supporters their player getting racist abuse is not a big deal .
. Because come on when Uniteds fan base more than half in Britain are far right supporters their player getting racist abuse is not a big deal
I've seen a lot of incredibly stupid things on this forum, but that probably tops it. That entire last post is a collection of exaggeration and sterotyping that would be worthy of Donald Trump.
Suarez is a piece of shit who has literally bitten people on three different occasions, and made no attempt to apologize or even acknowledge that his actions were wrong, saying things like "I was angry at the time" like that makes it ok. I don't know for sure if he made those remarks, but the people who laid down the suspension and Evra himself were pretty damn sure. I'm not some PC asshole, and I value intelligent debate over pretty much anything else in this world. If you have an opinion, you have the freedom to say it, and I have the freedom to tell you that you're utterly retarded.
Being racist is ok if the fanbase is right-wing. That is your logic? Fuck off.
Guys, please chill
Come on @sun, you are really overreacting on the Suarez incident. He is the type of player that can easily get heated up at any moment. Same goes for Ronaldo and Costa. They do dumb actions because they are pissed and got caught up with the moment.
You can clearly see Suarez style of play in how completely focus he is in a game. The number one player in the world for me when it comes to hunger and eagerness to perform a 110% in every match is Suarez. He literally wants to score even in a friendly, he wants to win every game. This is a striker every team needs, yes, he does over reacts and does dumb things, but that still should be taken lightly from everyone. He devotes his life for football, you can hear his scream more than the fans when celebrating a goal.
His biting incidents were blatantly dumb, but I think he has been punished enough, him being completely invisible to the FIFA and UEFA boards are enough, we shouldn't let our hate and envy reach the lad.
And those punishments worked so well. For someone who is apparently all about the game, he sure likes being suspended from it. Just because he "served his time" doesn't mean that what he did was right. The fact he refused to acknowledge that he was even in the wrong until Barcelona supposedly made him only heightens his negative qualities.
Let's create a hypothetical player. He is eager, wants to score goals, and loves the game. He also bites people about once every 3-4 years and earns lengthy suspensions and does not apologize or admit he was in the wrong. I'm sure he's an awesome guy. Right.
You can be the best football player to ever live and still be an utter asshole, and that goes for every profession on Earth. I despise people who don't respect other people, and Suarez fits that. I would never want to be a player or person like him, so why would I have envy? Like I said before, he deserved the negative attention he got, so why should bringing up a significant event like his biting be a problem?
@Tuan_jinn Sorry for that lad, it seem my debate thread are starting to get a bit out of hand, I hope its not a bother for you guys. ;O
If Suarez tried to bite me, I'd knock those incisors off his face. I don't care if I am red carded and/or suspended. I wish Chiellini did that. I don't know why he has to resort to such ugly behavior when he is so talented.
@ashwin Because everyone is tempted to do stupid stuff like that in the heat moment when you're being pushed and try to achieve something truly great. But the true show of class is not to have none of those temptation, it is to resist them, from what I've seen, very few footballer have managed to resist those temptation at all time, they all slip up a few time, some more than other.
Costa is like Ramos and Pepe - continuously picks fights and falls like a ballerina when they get touched. Real Madrid fans don't defend Pepe and Ramos when they do stupid sh.it. I genuinely don't see how hard it is to admit you have a player who is a dirty cun.t and just move on with it.
Deserved but harsh. One or two maybe.
@emobot7 You're right, Suarez's biggest mistake is not being able to control his temper. I'm sure 80% of footballers, in the heat of the moment, have at least once in their life thought of physically harming or saying something mean/racist to opposite team players. It's human nature. But the trick is to control your temper.
@Saatvik Exactly, you'll remark that most player tend to resist these temptation more as they become older and more mature as well.
@Embot: I'm ok with being a racist, or kicking or punching someone in a fit of rage. I'm not saying these are acceptable, but I can understand them. But biting takes a significantly longer time...at least for me...to brand it as a "rage fit". In fact it is more harmful than other mistakes as you could potentially spread a number of diseases from a bite...rabies injections anyone?
@ashwin Huh, yeah, I guess I understand what you mean but I guess you could say there is all kind of way to exprimate frustation. Ok, I got nothing for Suarez, he's clearly a bit crazy in the head as well. Then again, I wasn't really trying to defend him either, I was talking in general. Anyway, like I alway said, Suarez is like a wild Ratata, he can't help it. :p
@ashwin Yeah, I agree. Suarez is a completely different case with his biting. The fact that he is a player of such international stature should make him realise that he should not do this stuff for his own good. But he has already bitten opponents on three different occasions. Anger management classes, anyone??
tbh, i love reading these debates.
even as a liverpool supporter i admit that suarez was a massive cun.t sometimes. can we all just admit that theres no room for the behaviour of suarez, costa and aguero in football?
@chelsea8.....I fully agree with people here!! but come of the grass....Aguero is the cleanest of players in the EPL....we all know he is very controlled!! He does not get away with things...he plays clean.........Then there is Diego Costa...the most foul and reckless layer around!! Aguero doesn't even fit into his league!!! It may seem like i am all nice guy bout Aguero....cos of my name..But get a grip m8...He is a vv clean player, with one of the best records. We'll miss him during his ban anway....can't wait to see what happens!!!
Sergio Aguero has been banned for 3 match following his conduct in the game against West Ham. Now, the question of today's thread is, did Aguero really meant to hurt his opponent, did he even made contact with his opponent and above all else, did he really deserve the three game ban?

And video of him elbowing Winston Reid (sorry for the poor quality):
So, is it the right call or the wrong one?
May the debate begin!
