€40 million or forget it, Real tells Higuaín suitors...

ARGENTINE REMAINS ONE OF EUROPE S TOP STRIKERS

Regrouping and recouping funds is the order of the day at Real Madrid right now. Having spent big on Isco and Illarramendi and also brought in Carvajal, the time has come to prune the squad. Gonzalo Higuaín tops the exit list, but his departure has been anything but plain sailing so far.

El Pipita remains adamant that he wants out, despite Carlo Ancelottis willingness to bring him back in from the cold and make him a part of his plans.

Several clubs have called the Bernabéu HQ to express an interest in the striker, but no firm offers have been tabled as of yet.
Los Blancos reckon that Higuaín will be on his bike if another club is willing to push the envelope out to get him. However, conscious that the man in question leads the line for an Argentina squad brimming with attacking talent, Real Madrid is unwilling to budge from its €40 million valuation of the goalscorer.

With Ancelotti keen to keep him, Real is in no rush to see the back of the marksman either. Nevertheless, his departure would hardly leave Los Blancos light in the striking department: Benzema, Morata and Jesé together offer plenty of firepower, particularly with Cristiano Ronaldo prowling behind them.

It is worth remembering that Higuaín was long Reals first-choice striker, only losing his place following a run of injuries that started almost two years ago. Indeed, the Argentine was once one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe and the club believes that, if he can hit top form again, there is no reason why he can't regain this status.

I want to know RM and Arsenal fans impressions about this, comparing with Suarez. What could be the best soultions for this problem ?

Arsenal will definately not sign him now. Wenger is probably already looking for some 15 year old replacement.

If we were to pay 40 million then I'd rather we spent it on Suarez.

Just €40 for Higuain? Ill have a dozen please thanks.

I wouldnt worry too much though. Wenger is sitting with Gazidis in a dark room, plotting. Soon he will pick up his phone and call Perez.

Perez: Whos this?

Wenger - Its me

Perez - *groans*. We are not accepting €25 Million. Do you have a higher bid

Wenger - I do. We have money to sign any player. A friggin War Chest. I can sign Messi if I want to.

Perez - So what are you offering

Wenger - €25,000,001...

Wenger - Hello... Hello ....

Higuain back in 2009-10 may have been worth 40 million, and maybe even Higuain last year may have been worth 40 million, but not anymore. I'd say his true market value is somewhere between 25-30 million euros.

The reason Perez stated this value is because Ancelotti WANTS Higuain to stay. So that means that Perez, in case he's forced to sell Higuain, wants to get as much money out of it as he can. So that's why he bumped up Higuain's transfer value 10 million euros. That means that if Higuain IS sold, it'll be for enough money for us to replace him with adequate player(s), if at all. I'll miss you though Gonzalo. Our 12th highest ever scorer. :'(

I think Napoli will get him. They just got a decent amount on Cavani and they may spend all of it now...

Napoli will never fire a 40M bid even for Maradonna :). They will have Callejon and buy intelligent. I think Higuain will stay at Madrid and Ibra is thinking to stay and beat Cavani, Arsenal will have to pay Suarez 47M euros and Madrid will concentrate to bring Bale cause he is their main target. But you can never know what will happen Nowadays.

@tiki_taka

Actually, I can imagine Napoli paying 40 million for Higuain. If Benitez is willing to pay 12 million for an under-performing Albiol, God knows how far he'll be willing to go for Higuain.

And as for Maradona, just imagine someone as talented as Messi (but with more physicality) playing in the world today. Clubs will be lining up 150 million for Maradona if he played today. :)
