Dynamo Kyiv charged with racist behaviour of fans during Chelsea draw

Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Dynamo Kyiv after Tuesday’s 0-0 Champions League draw against Chelsea.

European football’s governing body confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the Ukrainian champions are facing three charges, including one of racist behaviour by supporters at the Olympic Stadium. Footage of an apparent attack on four black fans was obtained by the anti-discrimination network Fare, and passed to Uefa’s disciplinary body.

Piara Powar, executive director of Fare, told the Guardian:

“This terrible incident reflects many of the continuing realities of football in central and eastern Europe. A report has been made to Uefa, who have regulatory responsibility for the match, and we will be lobbying for the strongest sanctions.”

Dynamo have also been charged with crowd disturbances and blocking stairways during the match.

Uefa fined Dynamo €15,000 and ordered them to close part of their stadium in March after racist behaviour by fans towards Everton players during a Europa League game.

The control, ethics and disciplinary body will deal with the case on 27 October.

Disgraceful.

I had to write an essay on the migrant crisis in Europe recently and I ended up blasting a lot Europe for racism. Obviously, it's pretty easy for me sitting in North America to say that - but for those of you living in Europe has there been more racism recently? Whenever it seems to be getting better, a slew of incidents quickly dispel that notion.

Although Ukraine is going through a lot of crazy crap right now, it doesn't give them an excuse to be racist.

Yes, of course, racism increases In Europe. Far-right wing parties are increasing all over Europe, because of the heavy immigration from the middle-east. As the welfare system collapses the solidarity and acceptation of refugees decreases. Sweden for example has long been one of the most friendly countries to live in but our far-right wing party has increased from 5% to an expected 20-25% in one mandate period because the situation is not sustainable anymore. Then again, having opinions about a sky rocketing immigration and being a racist are miles apart. When it comes down to this incident, Dynamo Kievs ultras are known to be neo-nazis..

I just wonder what if it was the other way around... Those people animals are a disgrace to humankind.

This will only raise hate and more violence in this world and such people will pay the price eventually. It's really sad to see such behaviors still going on nowadays.

DISGUSTING!!!! It's SOOOOOOOOOOO unacceptable!!!! I hope they bust those guys and LOCK them up...

KTBFFHSWE: well said! Exactly what I thought, Racism is different from preventing a mass immigration and threats of unstabalizing economy.

Sad though, Some immigrants behave so bad, that also makes other good ones pay the prices.

The fact that bothers me the most is that people came to watch a match to relax, cheer and then these ultras came and wrecked everything for them. :(

Hate is increasing all over the world! Some racist idiots on a football arena won't change that. There are a lot worse things going on. Look at the proxy wars in Yemen and Ukraine or the jihadists killing thousands in the middle east or Trump becoming the president of the US lol. Refugee storms and the criminality that comes with poverty creates more hate due to incompetent fuck ups to politicians. Those guys should be punished and banned from all football, but the real problem don't lay there, but since this is a football forum I guess that's what we should discuss :) Ban them for life.

Well, that didn't work out as planned, eh?

enter image description here

@SunFlash: Racism is increasing at a shocking rate, at least from my experience in Austria. Since a couple of months thousands of Syrian refugees (and other Arab refugees who illegaly acquired Syrian passports in order to bolster their chances of being granted asylum) are coming to Austria or at least passing through Austria because their favoured destination is Germany (maybe @Shpalman & @Wolfie can give more details, as they live in Germany from what I know). On facebook, there are so many people who post things like "Where's H!tler when you need him" and "K!ll these bas!ards", it's absolutely ridiculous.

However, the reality is that a lot of refugees don't want to adapt to the culture, they don't want to learn the language and they become criminals because they can't find jobs (as they don't speak German). Austria and Germany are crowded, they can't open their borders to everyone, unfortunately. What bothers me though, is that countries like Saudi-Arabia, who have thousands of air-conditioned tents for the Mecca pilgrimage, don't provide shelter off-season. Then again, I work in the centre of Vienna and I've seen some Sheikhs walking into the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, so maybe they're even debating about this possibility. Austria has a fantastic Secretery of Staty, the only Austrian politician who's not completely incompetent (even though he's the youngest one), so let's hope he'll manage to convince them.

@juan 'About 80,000 people are expected to seek asylum in the country (Austria) this year – up from 28,000 people in 2014 and 17,000 the year before. Lots more in Sweden though, as we're expecting 150-200 000 immigrants this year with a population of 9.4 million. Insane. The welfare system will collapse and it's unfortunately a source for hate as the money to cover this has to be taken from elsewhere such as care for the elders, higher taxes etc. Now they're even suggesting we use most of the money pin-pointed for international aid to cover for this cost which makes Sweden contribute less to countries that really need it. The immigration policies in EU is a big freaking joke and some countries don't do shit to help. Countries outside of EU that have the resources such as Saudi-Arabia or Iran don't contribute much either. We're lucky we've got football and such to ease the tensions between people :)

In my 32 years I have never faced someone being racist to another, but I'm sure as hell that I would never tolerate it and something bad will happen to the racist bastard.

We are all humans no matter what color or race, no one is superior to another and no one should be judged by his clothes, skin color, religion, beliefs or nationality. No to Racism.

Just to be perfectly clear, I wasn't saying having an opinion on impossible numbers of migrants is racist. Not at all. But when I was doing research for the essay, I was honestly surprised at the type of politics and policies that are being enacted across Europe. People like Hit-ler would've been proud, is all I'm saying.

Here in Canada, a couple days ago we voted out a government that wanted to enact a "Barbaric Cultural Practices Hotline" and support also dropped for a party that wanted to basically "open our doors." Instead the country opted for our Liberal party which was like, "we'll take more, but not impossible amounts."

I respect that with millions of people flooding into Europe a solution is not always this easy. However, racism is either increasing or becoming more noticeable in Europe. America is going through its own self-discovery on the topic right now, and pretty soon Europe will probably have to do the same.

In Ukraine specifically (and correct me if I'm wrong, anyone who knows better) the tensions between left and right go back to the WWII era when some Ukrainians hated Stalin and the USSR, sympathizing with Hit-ler and the Germans as their own solution, and vice-versa. The recent civil war have the Western part of the country screaming "Rebel comm unists!" and the Eastern part "F ascist government!" People are being dragged to one side or the other.

It is sad that in times of heightened crisis, moderates die out.

ADDON: Blacklisted words are annoying, I'm not sure which it was, so I added spaces in the middle of suspect words.

We would not be facing these refugee crisis if our countries minded their own business and did not shove their noses in other poor countries . We create this problems and it comes back to us .

We bombed the crap out of Lybia that was living well and even better than most European countries in terms of how much government provided to their people . We brought them democracy and now they are coming back with that democracy back to us . Europe has themselves to blame and no one else . So we can whine and cry all we want , but those refugees are coming from countries that we like to mess with.

As far as Kiev . I am not surprised , although I expected them to do more than that . They are far right radical groups.

Until our government will support ISIS, we are 100% responsible of creating migrants. The migrants in question should go to the countries who are actually directly linked to the war in midle east : Israhell and their full control on US by the AIPAC lobby, US government completely submissive to the AIPAC and their financial help for presidential elections, and then Arabia and Qatar the US dolls in the region and the strategic basement of US army there.
UE is politically dominated by Nato controlled by US who are actually controlled by AIPAC who is an Israelli lobby, all this to say that if we listned to Poutine 5years before we wouldnt be in this situation and we're 100% responsible of it.
The migrants will get no education and help to find decent jobs and will be thrown for local slavery in Europe, decreasing basical salaries and being used by those who finance the war in the region....

Poutine is the Man atm, waiting to see if he will succeed, his diabolization has already started by mainstream media but people open their eyes more and more and its very hopeful for the future....

@rayrex Probably way more offensive against Israelis and Americans, suggesting they're behind those sheep *****. Also, "migrants..thrown for local slavery". Hm.

Time to leave this topic.

@KTBFHSWE It is offensive for them too, but the word meaning in the Saudi arabian Flag (the writing near the devils ear) means

There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is his messenger

So putting those words written on the devil is pretty offensive, I dont mind stating the country, but if the words were blurred it will be better

I think this has to do with football . Raise of racism in Europe and in football is directly linked to events that been going outside of football . I assume we are all grown ups here and we can discuss anything not just football .

I have acquaintances who are very far right and racist , I argue with them but they respectfully listen to my arguments without dismissing me as idiot just as I don't dismiss them as ones . Everyone has valid and invalid points , so lets not make @tiki scapegoat because he is not affraid to say what he thinks . Those are the values Europe stands for eh ?

Voltaire said :

I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

So , lets not apply double standard just because we don't like what tiki said and agree with what others had to say on this topic.

I think UEFA should strongly cooperate with governments if they want to fight racism .
