Police and stewards were forced to intervene on Wednesday evening after a section of Gunners supporters began to destroy hoardings on the upper tierA section of Arsenal fans are set to face an investigation from the police and the Football Association after tearing down hoardings at White Hart Lane following Wednesday's League Cup victory over Tottenham.

After the full-time whistle, a section of Arsenal supporters began to destroy banners attached to the upper tier of the stadium, forcing stewards and police to intervene.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that 10 arrests were made relating to criminal damage, assault and public disorder offences.

A spokesman for Arsenal insisted that the club will fully cooperate with any investigation: "We will work with Tottenham Hotspur and the authorities on this."

Absolutely appalling. It's sad for the few Arsenal fans who are respectful.

Not sure this needed that, seems like an extra shot to me.

The Arsenal fans who did this are morons and should be punished accordingly.

Its not good to group together all the fans into the same category. Not all of them are responsible for the actions of those fans. Only the responsible fans should be banned from every stadium.

^

The north London club was popular among Jewish immigrants who settled in the East End in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They have therefore always maintained a Jewish link.

As to the more cryptic part, I won't even bother discussing that. Shame on the fans who took part in the incident.

who cares about any of this ? It happens all the time. Proof right above my reply. The chants about auschwitz were disgraceful tho and the fans singing it should be banned.

btw why do chelsea fans care about this ? It concerns only arsenal and spurs.

@Jozifbadmon Why Arsenal fans cared about the 'racist episode' at Paris and call us untill now racists? Why Arsenal fans constaly post more in our games than theirs? Sigh... Do you even know what Auschwitz is and what happened there?

It is more of a question why 60% ( number that i just made up but you get the point ) of the news is about Chelsea since last year but anything that happens with other clubs gets dusted under the carpet .

@joze No i have no idea what auschwitz is of course. I didn't care about the racist incident, I dislike chelsea as a club because they are rivals. I know only a part of your fanbase is racist just like a part of our fanbase is.

@Marcus I understand that racism stories get cover from the press because it needs the most exposure possible so that it stops. Damaging a stadium or the toilets ? meh it's part of the rivalry and keeps things a bit heated. If we try to get everything like that out of football we'll end up with only tourists and people who never sing at the stadium. Football imo is where you can be the most passionate in our society, and it should stay that way. As long as you keep violence and racism out of it of course.

edit : I didn't mean that people who destroy things shouldn't be punished, I meant that it doesn't deserve any coverage from the press. But people nowadays like to talk about things like this to belittle other fanbases and act arrogant/condescendant and feel good about themselves, pretending they are "classier" fans than others. I think it's bullsh*t.
