I know personally that choosing a country to represent is really hard. I think that he's done the right decision. But Brazil should not remove his nationality: that's not fair for his family and friends. It's really going into the politics which is really bad.

Luiz Felipe Scolari faced a barrage of questions from the media relating to Diego Costa after announcing his squad list for November’s friendly dates against Honduras and Chile. Prior to today’s press conference, CBF media officer Rodrigo Paiva had warned reporters that the coach would not be making any comments relating to the Atlético player. But a number of journalists persisted until Scolari lost his patience.
“You’re asking me whether I was angry about it? Don’t put words into my mouth,” he angrily told one reporter, who then asked the coach if there was any comparison between the cases of Diego Costa and Deco (the former Barcelona player, Brazilian by birth, was called to play for Portugal, curiously, by Scolari who was then in charge). “Don’t ask such ridiculous questions. That is a completely thoughtless argument. I will answer your question in four or five years’ time, if I feel like it. It’s absurd” the Brazil coach seethed.
After calming down, Scolari explained that Deco’s case was entirely different to Costa’s. “Deco never played a single match with Brazil. Pepe also gained Portuguese citizenship and was never, not once, called by Brazil. There is a big difference,” he argued.

The Atlético Madrid forward has been officially withdrawn from the Brazil squad for the November friendlies in the USA and Canada against Honduras and Chile.
In an official statement posted on the website of the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF), Scolari commented: “A Brazilian player who rejects the chance to wear the Brazil shirt and play at a World Cup in his country can only be automatically withdrawn from the squad.

”Though the CBF’s statement did not specify whether it planned to take any further action, president José María Marín earlier promised to “fight” for the player. “We’re going to fight as far as we consider is best for Brazil. The CBF does not consider the case to be closed,” he said.
