Thank you for everything, David. You were a real hero in the most crucial moments of these past 3 seasons. You will be remembered as a hero to the club.

Now all I'm waiting for is the official price. I heard it's closer to 50m than it is to 40m! What a fantastic piece of business once again from Chelsea!

I don't understand why PSG is continuing to spend this much. Expect a heavier FFP sanction next year. Nothing against Ligue I, but I do not see this as a step up for Luiz in terms of his career, which only means one thing ($). This was a really shrewd transaction on Chelsea's part. Not only have they gotten rid of a very erratic player who was prone to making mistakes, but they can now give players like Zouma and Kalas a chance, who are every bit as good as Luiz, if not better, in terms of potential.

Ridiculously good business from Chelsea. I always thought Luiz was way too overhyped. He's a decent defender. Far too inconsistent though. Terry and Cahill (and Ivanovic) were always better than him at CB for me.

@V, £40 mil, according to BBC

Haha what a move. Chelsea now have some good money to spend and will perhaps snag somone like Mangala.

This more than makes up for the Matic + Luiz deal with Benfica a couple years back too.

@TheGame: Yeah, that's what I've been hearing as well but the most recent rumor is 48m. I hope the latter is true.

Guys, get this!

In the past two transfer windows Chelsea have made 105 million pounds from just selling their squad players.

Kevin De Bruyne - 18 million
Juan Mata - 37 million
David Luiz - 50ish million

I bet no one expected 'Enemy of Football' Chelsea to actually make profits from their players :o

If you wanna count profit you have to add players you bought too, and don't forget you will spend some money in summer, after that we will see if Chelsea will be in +/-.

^Yes, I always had that in mind, but I meant profit as in we really set the standards here on how much a club can make out of three squad players.

EDIT: I mean, they weren't even f*cking starters and yet we got 105 million (maybe 10m less if the Luiz deal is 40m). That is the best piece of business I've seen in football 2014.

I agree with this yes, but I don't think he is worth 40 millions, but PSG just got the money so great business for Chelsea.

Congratz... Use those 40-60m wisely, you can reinforce the squad a lot with that amount of money!

Mou got to sell both Mata and Luiz for 40+million with both being benchwarmers... who would have known...

The truth is P$G are so rich they can afford to pay any financial fine UEFA throw at them. I really hate money.

Good luck to him, I'm a bit sad to see him leaving, but it's a good deal for us. I won't be surprised if PSG get the money back selling Cavani...

@eden "I really hate money" It's hard to take you seriously after you say stuff like that. 48m for david luiz, I don't get it. How did chelsea manage to rip off psg that hard ? Maybe there's something else about this deal we don't know yet ? Anyway, who are barca going to target next ? Luiz to barca was reported everywhere last week.

Clubs from now on wont sell any talented players if it is not to PSG or City.. Those guys pay double the price nobody else would consider investing.

Money ruining football... It was just a matter of time

Let me get it. Chelsea thrashed PSG in the Champions League and their great defender decides to join the losing team. For what? To stop at quarter final next year, to beat teams like Evian? Seriously?
