@Golazo If your saying that just because of today's game, its pretty harsh. :(

Thats how the game works you need to perform in order to be rated, and he looked pretty much clueless so no it's no harsh it's not like he did decent or average or below average he was horrible.
He is the reason why Barcelona scored the first 2 goals, he wasn't even trying to run back and mark at both goals, Suarez totally left unmarked just missed the second chance that anyway resulted in him getting a red card...I rest my case.
@Golazo, how? All jokes aside, Carvajal is good. I see his style similar to Dani Alves’ and Jordi Alba’s. He makes good runs along the wing and creates many attacking situations possible.
Topic was made 10 days ago, I based that he is overrated on his current performance and not 1 year ago.
@Golazo111 Nah, you're saying he's overrated based on one game, which does not make any sense. How about Ronaldo? He hasn't been scoring as much and he had a brilliant chance where he completely mishit the ball with only Ter Stegen to beat. The guy that just won the Ballon de D'or, really? I say he's overrated based on his current performance too.
Same thing about Zidane. He has won back to back Champions League titles, but then goes and loses 3-0 at home against Barcelona. Psh, overrated manager.
@Golazo I was asking if Carvajal was overated in general. Not only his current form or just against Barca. Not saying he wasn't poor today but to be fair, that doesn't mean he isn't much better in general. I thought it was somewhat obvious but it true I didn't really clearly say it.
@Yvan21 Yes it's based on that he is currently showing, which is being a bad player overall. He wasn't underrated at all but he is overrated right now and he isn't showing much of last seasons offensive abilities and at the same time he is the one to blame for the heavy defeat in El Classico, basically he is the one to blame for first 2 goals and on top of that he got a red card which made the rest of the team totally unable to catch up.
So what about him vs Gremio? A game that Real Madrid should be winning easy he played 90'min didn't show anything special, then in the 0:0 vs Athletic Bilbao he didn't show anything much either...Right now he isn't playing on the level of a European champion team nor La Liga champion team, which makes him overrated by a far margin compared to the player he was last season where you could notice that he was making a difference on the pitch.
Make a topic about Ronaldo or Zidane and we can talk about them as well.
@Golazo, the thing is, you don't know what consistency is. You, for example, have changed the club that you support 3 times already. You are uneducated and your thinking is vastly erroneous. Carvajal is good, even though he plays for Madrid, and you are a dumbo dingleberry.
Oh ok, thx!
I guess we should all just praise a player saying how he is very much underrated, specially after his most recent performance! That way we all know what consistency is, I'm obviously so wrong and uneducated, even if a player plays for Madrid he can also be good I didn't know that either, after all I'm just a dumbo digleberry.
What can I possibly talk about after changing a team here on the forum, what was i thinking oh God I shouldn't even have the right to post a comment after choosing to support Chelsea on this website!
No, this thread was made before the Real Barça game, and you're the one saying that he's overrated based on one game, you numbnut hypocrite. And no, just because someone plays for Madrid does not make them good, and I in no way implied that. The reason he did bad today was because Madrid played against the best team in the world, Barcelona. Everyone does bad against them, so therefore you can't really judge him based on one performance, you soyboy.
Yea the topic was made 10 days ago, was Carvajal in any way underrated at that time? Nope.
He by default is not underrated as last season he was talked about a lot and his performances were great. But if you make a topic right now do you really expect everyone to just agree that he is underrated, specially after the El Classico where he can be blamed for the first 2 goals against his team? Really nobody should point out the reality of what happened in the game that Real Madrid needed to win?
Well news flash I never said he was a bad player overall, just that he is right now overrated and not producing the same things he did last season, so if he can't be underrated he is obviously overrated, there is not other choice in this topic.
If you choose to ignore how he is playing currently and just focus on the past that is 100% your problem, not mine.
Everyone does bad against the best team in the world, which is Barcelona?
So you're saying that everyone should play bad when playing the best club, which happens to be the club you support?
How come the stats don't agree with you then?
Just as you say that Barcelona is the best club I can say that you're basing that on 1 game but when you look at the stats, Real Madrid is still the current La Liga Champion, and they won Champions League 2 years in a row which nobody did before them, Real Madrid also has more wins in El Classico games as well so seems like your own little argument of looking at only 1 game can be applied to you as well.
Clearly just because someone is playing Barcelona doesn't mean that he should be expected to play poorly, but if that was true what you're implying, it means that Carvajal would be even more overrated because no matter what he does it would be expected of him to do bad just because he is playing vs Barcelona, as the current player of the club that won La Liga last season and Champions League that's obviously underachieving but then again if it's expected from you then why do you think that he is good? Only players that play bad against your team you consider as good?

Ok, guys, thats enough, Golazo is entitled to his opinion even if its a based on a certain way of seeing thing. True, the thread was made 10 days ago and in a way, its true that Carvajal hasn't been the best player around that time. And will it wasn't how I meant the question at all, he have the right to pick any choice he want. However, Golazo must respect the rule of the forum. His answer:
Clearly overrated by far.
Is not regular by the rule of the forum as he state an opinion without giving any explanation as to why say it (that is 100% a rule of the forum, not joking). Also, while its not against the rule, saying "clearly" and "by far" make it feel as if his opinion is obvious, which is in my opinion is both unnecessary and make it seem like he think his opinion is absolute.
Anyway, stay chill SoccerBoss, its no use getting annoyed because of different way of seeing thing.

So, as you propably know, Carvajal is soon to rejoin real Madrid first team and I thought it was a good time to make such a thread. For me, Carvajal is one of the best player at his position, last season particularly, he played a key part in Real success. Personally, I alway found it too bad he seemed to pass under the radar and I consider him to be seriously underrated. Compare him to Marcelo, a player aclaimed as one of the world best at his position despite something leaving weakness in the defense, well in my opinion, Carvajal is nearly as dangerous in offense as Marcelo only, he is much more consistent in his defending imo.
So what do you guys think? Over or underrated?
