[Official] Daley Blind has Agreed to Join United for £14 Million

Thoughts? I think he would make a great signing due to the versatility he brings. It might seem like we've signed 3 left backs this transfer window, but really Rojo and Blind could be played anywhere in defense.

Why exactly do you need Blind, Rojo and Shaw???????

Greeat player though. IMO, better than Shaw and Rojo

Rodriguez would still be my number 1 pick for our left back in a couple of years, so thankfully United haven't signed him

@Eden

Rojo is capable of playing as a CB, and Blind can play anywhere on the left-hand side of the pitch. Blind is also capable as a CM, which shows his versatility, and the assets obtained by purchasing him.

I think Blind would be a great capture. I wouldn't have bought Luke Shaw if I were United (if I already planned on purchasing Rojo and Blind). I rate Rojo and Blind above Shaw.

I'm almost certain United will utilize him in the CDM or CM position and he's played there often for Ajax. And Rojo will go to CB and since Shaw will be out for a while, having a possible LB (Blind) would also not be bad at all.
14 million seems a decent price with his experience at Ajax and the WC.
I really wish we could get Carvalho though. He's a tank in the midfield and physicality is something we need in the middle of the pitch.

I agree wit man_utd and Dynastian. Blind will probably cover for shaw till he comes back from injury, and then probably will play in the midfield either as a back up to Carvalho (if we buy him) or ahead of Fletcher. TC23 is going to Aston Villa and I hope we offload Anderson and Young too.On a side note, we could have kept Cleverly as a backup for now...

ManU have spent so much money this transfer window. Even more than ManCity's first year. They really need a good result.

Great... third f*cking Left Back

I know he can play CB and midfield but wouldnt it have been better to sign either a natural player for one of those other positions? Same thing with Rojo.

And dont get me wrong, Blind is a fantastic player but once again, we could have invested better.

@Tuanis: I highly doubt he will start ahead of Shaw at LB. Blind and Yound will play there after Shaw. Rojo will play CB ahead of Evans who was disastrous today. I think we might still get Carvalho/Vidal, so he will probably deputize for them or for Carrick depending on the situation.I doubt he will play at CB especially when we will have Smalling, Evans, and Keane as backups. But you never know whats up with van Gaal.

Keane and Evans need to get their heads out of their a**. Evans has been
with us for quite some time, and as the senior most defender, he needs
to have better composure on the ball. I understand Keane making
mistakes due to the game time and his age, but it is not acceptable from Evans. After horrendous back to back games by Evans, I don't think he would have seen the pitch again under Fergie.

I think we have sufficient depth at every position now, so if we do not make top 4 this year, it will be a huge disappointment and will rest solely on van Gaal. I think this team plays well under 4-4-2 rather than 3-5-2, but that means we will have to leave Mata out or deploy Roo as a winger or CM which I doubt he wants to play. Overall, the progress is there, we just need to finish better.

It's official, I'm half excited about this deal. I think he's a great player, but not sure if he can perform in EPL, I would love to see him shine though...

Our legend Scholes shared his thought and suggested that Blind will not be able to perform well in EPL if he plays as LB, he might be good at DMF...

There have been wage too much negative atmosphere due to recent results, the players is loosing their confident... I hope LVG will stop it soon.

van Gaal said he needs 3 months repeatedly when he came to the squad. Give him those three months.

@tuann: I watched all 3 games in EPL and highlights for the league cup game. We always start of slowly in the first half for some reason, but as the game progresses, we become more confident, and comfortable. Yesterday was no different. We were very nervous at first, but after half time, we were playing well and created a few chances. If RVP and Mata take the chances properly, we would have scored. DiMaria played decent (mainly due to this being a new team, and he doesn't really know how his team mates move) but he was dribbling past players. Our next game is on Sep 14th I believe, and it not only gives us 2 weeks to get Herrara and Shaw (may be) but provides us enough time so that the team can gel during practise. The improvement is there, we need some more time, and I hope we do not drop a lot of points from where we can not come back.

I truely hope so too @ashwin. But to be honest, we didn't look that convincing, we played better because we saw time was against us so we had to push, and created a few more chances, that was no sufficient.

But like you said I hope the team can click together after a few more weeks, and we will show our strength
