Clasico week
tiki_taka 10 years ago
Barcelona, France 367 9768

Individual rivalries : Messi/Ronaldo, Bale/Neymar, Piqué/Ramos...
Club rivalry : The fiercest rivalry in Europe, 60 years of hattred, civilian war, political issues...
Sportive competition : 1pt gap between Spanish top 2, Spanish league issue depends highly on 90min as the winner would get the lead and a psychological impact over the rival.
Best Football quality in the world : Mou era is over, Ancelotti team plays Football, play for the win, clean game with arguably the best squads in the world ( Bayern aside ).

Revenge for Barça, taking back the leader place for Real, both teams obviously playing the win, open game obviously with both teams preparing it for a while...

Madrid already qualified for CL quarters, Barça will do it wednesday ( unless a cataclism unlikely )

MSN VS BBC With home advantage for MSN and midlefield advantage for BBC.

My prediction for the game : 4-2.

Post anything related here, prediction, your support, Banter, news, comparisons...

Feel free to discuss.

really @decentK you have time to spy on every ronaldo action he does. Dude its like me going in Cazorla's house hiding in his cabinet and check whether he talks **** about his teammates behind their back, you have no proof that he "didnt" want to celebrate or just kick the ball out of the pitch. In fact im sorry you must really hate ronaldo for what he did against arsenal back when he was at united. its ok to be mad but dont hate on such things. Ronaldo gave ramos to take some penalties and freekicks, he kicked the ball so they had time to celebrate (just a thought of judging) we dont know what is in his head, its like me saying you hate ronaldo and love messi, and than you are gonna reply by saying no i am a neutral fan, you see you dont like judging by such small acts, so stop watching troll football and try to understand what immense pressure football players have on a daily basis thanks to most ignorant fans who are selfish and arrogant

I apologize tiki if i went off-topic

@rayrex7 Who said he didn't celebrate? And if you noticed I said "if" on my sentence. Don't be so mad when people say something about Ronaldo. Be open to the opinions. I am also a Ronaldo fan and I watched that game. Yes, he did celebrate with his teammates which is what you should do when your "team" scores even if you don't want to (not talking about Ronaldo). But again "if" he did that selfishly on that body gestures; that would automatically affect the teams play.

I'm hoping Madrid give it their all, 100% give all they can.

"Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that" - Bill Shankly

This isn't just any match, and a player that isn't willing to give it is all in this sort of match, doesn't deserve to play for the team. This is El Clasico we are talking about, it is much more than 3 points, it is much more than 90 minutes of football. it's bragging rights, honor, its the two best teams in Spain, the two with most history coming face to face.

Real are always dangerous from corners, specially against Barca, and with Ramos back, I can only hope we will snatch up a goal from a corner. I'm also hoping for sublimely executed counter attacks, which we all know no team in the world can stop.

Can't think of a scoreline, Madrid has surprised multiple times at Camp Nou. Madrid can sometimes benefit off og a hostile environment, we've seen it happen to Bayern, Barca and others, but Barca have the edge here.

Busquets could be a big blow to Barca, as he organizes the midfield, and keeps a balance and connection between the midfield and the defense, as well as slowing down the play when needed.

Will be a great game, and hopefully no wrong arbitrary decisions from the ref to either side.

May the best team win, and may we witness a great and contested win.

Hala Madrid!

Set pieces under Luis Enrique turned from Barça main weakness to Barça strenght, im really happy of this because the team no longer concede useless goals...

Barça didnt concede a corner for a while now, since last Clasico btw :) and they just conceded 2 VS PSG so Enrique worked very hard on it, credit given when its due...

Also happy to see 2 in form GK instead of 0 comparing to last year and both Bartra-Mathieu able to put good performences when needed due to Enrique rotation...

Messi scoring from corner isnt a coincidence, Barça seems to use some Basketball technics in corner introduced by Enriqué XD i sware thats true :D.

With Rakitic abilities, Barça can decide the shooter before shooting the freekick.

Other than this, in Mourinho era Madrid used to score by direct playing, because they didnt want to let spaces uncovered so they direct play up front with fast passes despite having less pass complention with this method, and using their set pieces at 100% wich was Barça weakness...

Now, with the midlefield confidence and quality, with Carlo tactics, a good Madrid side can win the battle of midlefield and get the ball out of Barça, thats why Enrique who benefited from last Clasico loss thought about making Barça defend lower and let rival have some possession and time to build, that makes Barça a little more vulnerable but at the same time make space for fast counters...

So anyway with Barça if the rival wants to play Football, the action is guaranteed and i dont think Carlo is thinking of parking the bus, you cant be the Great Madrid of 2014 and turn into a small parking bus team ( Doesnt mean defend low but completely park it )...

Both teams learned to be versatile and both are at ease in possesion and counters, so im hoping for 50-50 game with both teams attacking in their momentum and letting the ball in rival's momentum...

Why i give Barça the lead ? Hosting ? Form, less pressure on the game, sharpness ( Except City game :) ).

Anyway, good luck all, let it be the best quality Football we could witness, far from being decided not like City game...

@emerecan I'm sorry but I was just in a bad mood cause in my district 90% are barca fans, 7% are Bayren fans and 3% are Madrid fans, and since we defeated bayren, the bayren fans are against us, so I always get a lot of hate from them which is y I'm in a cranky mood, but sorry bro I didn't mean to go all out.

What impressed me the most about yesterday's game - apart from Messi and Hart - was Barcelona's excellent defence. Now, I gotta admit that I didn't watch a lot of games this season that involved Barcelona, but I've looked into the matter and I've noticed that Barcelona has only conceded 16 goals in the league this season, while the second best team (Valencia) has conceded six more than them. Interestingly enough, only two of those were headers. At this moment last year (until matchday 27), Barcelona conceded 22 with 8 of them being headers, meaning that there's been an massive improvement.

On the opposite side of the pitch, Barcelona has scored 78 in La liga so far, with 8 of them being headers and 11 of them coming from set pieces (no pens included). Again, this moment last year it looked like this:

  • Total: 74 goals
  • after set pieces: 6 goals
  • headers: 5 goals

Quite interesting statistics there, at least for me. It's impressive to see that they have managed to overcome their biggest weakness and actually look like a threat in the air now. That's a pretty good job Luis Enrique did there, I'd say.

Anyways, my prediction for the Clasico is 2-1 to Barcelona.

@rayrex I stand by what I "said", I think you went over the top :-) don't be mad. It's really funny, I have many friends who are C.Ronaldo fans, they always get really mad easily when I just give a tiny negative thing about C.Ronaldo, seems to be the same case with ya : ) It's not like I'm spying, I just remembered that occasion really clearly, and nope I'm not mad of that brilliant shot vs Arsenal long time ago.

Go ahead and give me some information about Cazorla ! Delighted to hear.

I'm not mad at you btw even though you just attacked me, it's fine (: I guess I just attacked your sensitive spot that is C.Ronaldo!

Barcelona has finally found the chemistry in their attack and surprisingly defense is doing very well . I just can't imagine them loosing . Neymar , Suarez and Messi are in great form . Messi being revived and charged up while Ronaldo seems to be loosing form and lost his usual finishing touch . He wasted many chances during levante match. Nonethless he will be energized to score against Barca .

Casillas also gives sign of optimism to Barcelona . His performance against Schalke was frantic .

Prediction

Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid .

Neymar , Messi to hit double and Ronaldo .

Here I put the thread back on topic.

However, if ancelotti is looking for a draw, we could play fast-counter attacking like against bayren last year, since bayren and barca are almost similar in tactics, with our off form players we need to be cautious of our defence and strike them back at the counter. Hopefully :)

Has anyone yet predicted a win by RM? I hope this doesnt turn out to be a trashing by Barcelona, that would just kill the excitement of the league.

even with +4pts the league is far from being over, Barça hosting Valencia, going away to Sevilla and Atletico, a win is +3 and a loss direclty -3 for the race, but really things are far from being over...
Much quality to face in Spain, Celta away, Espagnol derby away, important Clasico but not exactly a title decider...
Knowing That Madrid already played Atleti home and away, Barça cant loose here they have the hardest schedjule of the 2.
