CL Matchday 5

So here what happened today:

  1. Spurs qualified as top of their group and BVB still might not make it to Europa league.
  2. Real did a good performance 6-0 vs Apoel, should give them a moral boost for their coming game.
  3. Besiktas qualified as top of their group and Monaco officialy out of CL.
  4. Porto and Leipzig could still qualify as second of their group but Porto has the advantage thanks to the away goal. Based on current form, it might be easier for them to beat Monaco than for Leipzig to beat Besiktas.
  5. Manchester City were a bit lucky to come out of their game with a win, still, they got 15 point now and are still quite impressive. If they beat Shaktar on last CL matchday and that Napoli beat Feyenoord, then Napoli will be qualified for the next part of the competition.
  6. Spartak should have won their game...
  7. Sevilla made an impressive comeback.
  8. Liverpool chocker of the day. :P

Monaco was a big disappointment for me, again.
Would Spartak win mean anything actually? They would still have to beat Liverpool to make it into another round.
Liverpool, I don't know what to say, I though the game was over after 0:3..

If Spartak win against Liverpool and Sevilla beat Maribor, then Liverpool will be joining the Europa League.

@quikzyyy Are trying to say it isn't possible for team with Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain in it to lose against Spartak Moscou? I think it is, especially if Promes is in form. :P

Monaco's performance as seriously embarrassing ... I didn't like BVB's one either.

Lovely, Benz and Ronaldo scored again... what a performance that was from Real. Although Apoel is a lesser club, still, a very necessary smash for Real to boost their confident again. I hope they will do that in La Liga too.

Napoli win adds another salt to Italian football, showing how idiotic Ventura was :(

Group with Besiktas, Porto, Leipzig and Monaco was most stable of all and it didn't fail to match expectations. Gladly watched few of these matches rather than bigger teams. Besiktas is fantastic at the moment, Porto is really good too but I think Leipzig is gonna take spot number two. They crushed Monaco with ease, fantastic perfomance from them.

It'd be sad to not see Napoli go through because I am huge fan of their playstyle - I really want to see them go through.

Sevilla's coach Eduardo Berizzo has admitted to players that he has cancer on halftime of Sevilla-Liverpool. They returned with 3 goals to get draw. This man did a lot for Celta, hope he manages to even more for Sevilla. Respect to players for putting in such a fight.

@Croatian Man, what a way to motivate his team into one of the best comeback of the season. :O Was beautifull to see the player fight back for him. Hope he will be able to recover. :( As for Leipzig, they will need a results at home against Besiktas especially if Porto manage a win at home against Monaco, which seems pretty likely imo. Beside, I don't think they would do well in the knockout phase, lack of experience in Europe would be the mean problem for me. :(

@tuan BVB are really dissapointing, however, I gotta say I was expecting a clean sheet from Spurs and pherhap more goal from them considering how poor is BVB in defense but what matter was the win and the top spot. Important goal for Benz and Ronaldo, will hopefully boos their confidence.

Also, I forgot to say it, but it was nice to see Nacho scoring, as the commentator on my stream said: Nacho, Nacho man! XD (For those who don't understand, this is a reference to Macho Man, a track made by Village People late in the seventy).

I don't which is worse, Liverpool that got caught up 3-3 by Sevilla or Manchester United losing at the very last minute. :( Also, great show by Atletico, they are still in the game even if they need Qarabag to make miracle for them. Oh, and they need to beat Chelsea as well. :(

I got stuck watching Juve-Barca game zzZ. Barcelona have a much more solid defense than they did last season. Credit goes to Valverde for improving the team in that respect. On the other hand, Juve were nowhere near the level they displayed last season and that seems to have been the recurring theme so far this season.

@Emo Yea, Atletico have a nearly impossible task. Going to the Europa League is obviously not good for a team that's been a finalist twice in recent years, but I think that they would be favorites to go all the way and lift the Europa League trophy. Especially taking into consideration that they'll have great reinforcements up front once Costa and Vitolo join them. They've been a solid team defensively, with only one defeat in the season so far, and having those two will certainly improve their offense where they've lacked consistency and goals of course :p

@Yvan Should have watched a simulcast like me. :P PSG are seriously impressive and Bayern should have done better today, still Tolisso was stellar today and won them the game for me. Glad to see his move is working out. :)
