Sorry to ask but... How are groups decided? One team per pot? And what do the number represent next to each team?

The numbers represent UEFA coefficients based on champions league success/consistency in the past 5 years. Highest rated teams are seeded first and put in pot 1, and so on so the lowest rated teams are in pot 4. Dortmund, although they reached the final last year, either didn't make the champions league or didn't make it past the group stages hence why they are in pot 3. They were in pot 4 last year but their run improved their coefficient.

So, the draw is essentially one team from each pot to make a group of four teams. Teams from the same country/ football association can't be drawn together till the Quarter finals.

psg made it to the quarters last year and they never played cl last 5 years, but they are in pot 2, unlike Dortmund.
I think that UEFA coefficients are also based on the league you play,

Man U, Shaktar, Leverkusen, Sociedad

You have to be realistic.
Sociedad group is too strong.
United and Leverkusen are the favourites.Shakhtar is the team that the most people think that can eliminate those.

What is the most important advantage of real is the fact that all the 3 teams will have sociedad just as the team that complete the group is good for Real.So ,real will have no pressure and that will help them a lot.
It will be difficult for those sides to be motivated against real and that will probably cost them.
If they underestimate Sociedad they will be in trouble.

Realistically Sociedad can advance, i didnt say they were exactly favourites, think with your brain for once...

Though,when you predict that they will finish 1st you think that they are the favourites.

^^ Only in your opinion. It's not so much a group of death as a group of potential slip-ups. United should win that group easily. If they don't then they screwed up.

Simple as that.

A group of death is when you have 2 or 3 heavyweights. United is the only heavyweight there, against 3 teams who can pull shock wins against heavyweights.
