I guess there's a difference between team who fakes numbers, says they generate more money than United and Real Madrid and so on. This is seem pretty serious though, lots of law professionals think City might not get away as easily with this case compared to the UEFA inquiry. Propably won't change much in the long term but it would be a breath of fresh air to see the English FA finally taking a stance and punishing teams when they go overboard and commit fraud.

I agree that the league needs City to be a force, as it helps overall, but not at the expense of cheating the system. If they are found guilty, they need to have some repercussions. Someone, at some point, will need to be the example, and if this all is true, this is a great tee-up for the administration to drop the hammer.

If you don't enforce your rules, then they will be broken constantly with no fear of repercussion. It was obvious to anyone who had an ounce of sense that City cooked their books, ironclad evidence has been in the public view since 2011, and continued to pop up here and there since.

In accommodating quik's "sportwashing playground" the EPL has made billions and stands to make billions more. But sport without rules is nothing, and leagues that succumb to corruption for the benefits of money tend to die hard deaths. That said, I don't think that this has the potential to ruin the EPL, because as I said, everyone knew this was happening and played along. It isn't like a gambling scandal where fans can no longer trust the product on the field, which causes such danger to sport that all American sports retain lifetime bans on individuals who bet on their own games.

We all know nothing will happen, same as when City breached FFP rules and were supposed to be out of UEFA. PL knows they can't relegate them like Serie A did with Juventus and Calciopoli. My only worry is that the City lawyers manage to find another loophole to get away with it. I mean, they basically got enough ressource to check and recheck every rulebook possible and make in depth analysis of every sentence in them.
