unsung? I consider him Chelsea's best player. By goalkeeper standards, he is pretty highly rated. Goalkeepers themselves are underrated.

Yeah that's why I said Chelsea's unsung hero. Many football fans appreciate his efforts but sometimes they forget how pivotal he could be in a match, and it's mostly the Chelsea fans that forget. For example, the 2011/12 Champions League semi-finals and final wins were mostly given credit to Drogba but what about Cech? People tend to forget Cech is the reason we became Champions of Europe.

Against Barca he gave an amazing performance in both legs including that missed penalty by Messi. Yes Messi is the one who missed it but Cech went the right way anyway. Yet somehow people only remember Drogba's first leg vs Barca that was the difference maker. Yes he scored and I take nothing away from him (always) stepping up in the important times but people seem to forget that he also gave away a penalty.

Then comes the Champions League final against Bayern. Cech single handedly saved us and gave one of his greatest performances with Chelsea ever. Yet his name wasn't sung at the end. It was Drogba. Once again, I take nothing away from Drogba as he did give us the trophy with his header and game winning penalty. But people seem to have forgotten he gave away a penalty in extra-time. Who stepped up to save Chelsea once again? Cech, like always. The came the penalties which he remarkably went the right direction in every penalty from Bayern and saving half of them. It was by far the greatest moment in his career.

This is an unpopular opinion with Chelsea fans but Petr Cech was our hero in the CL. He did more than Drogba. I will never forget Drogba and everything he did for us, but I'll never forget who the real hero of that CL run was.
