Chelsea sign yet again, more attacking midfielders/midfielders (youth players)

Kasey Palmer:Couldn't find any video about the lad but the player profile about him makes him seem promising.

"Two footed, lovely balance and with the ability to glide past opponents, Kasey Palmer is a bright English talent. Playing in an advanced midfield position for Charlton U18’s this season, he has been among the stars of a talented Academy group, also including Gus Poyet’s son, Diego.

When scouts flocked to The Valley to watch Poyet Jr in the FA Youth Cup tie against Chelsea this season, it was Palmer who caught their eye instead. Charlton lost 3-2 after extra time with goals from Tom Derry and Oliver Muldoon, but Palmer shone.

Whether he would have been best advised to stay at Charlton where the route into the first team is an easier path (18-year-old Callum Harriot recently became the latest to make the first team at The Valley) is another debate. Working under Paul Hart and Steve Avory at Charlton, 16-year-old Palmer has improved as a player and recently scored a spectacular long-range goal at Millwall in a 2-1 win for the Charlton U18 team."

Cristian Cuevas interview with Marca:

How did the interest of Chelsea come about?

They come following me like for a year and a half, or two years. They came to see me at championship La Serena, where I played well and made two goals . After that tournament I got tickets for a trial, and for the club to meet me. I went to London, I spent a week, then returned to South American, and that they said they were interested and made the purchase.
You go directly to a big European football, with 17. Are you prepared?

Recently there have been South American players are very young, without passing through a small team. I've always been very clear, since I started here as a boy. I wanted to play as little as possible here in Chile and go outside to play quickly, to Europe. And have been given the opportunity by Chelsea. There were more teams, but I always wanted to make the decision and go to this team. These are challenges that I want to take.
This summer you go to London. Will you stay in the first team, or you will you go on loan if the occasion arises?

They spoke from the beginning. I have to come, making the preseason and then see what they do with me, whether I stay or sent on loan to a smaller team. But yes, I'm willing to go on loan. What I want most is to play and adapt as quickly to add minutes and did not cost me much if I go back to Chelsea.
What Chelsea player do you prefer?

In Chelsea, I really like Ashley Cole. I always liked his style, the way they play. Now I like Tottenham's Gareth Bale is a similar style. I look a bit like them.

Anyone who likes Ashley is alright with me. Welcome to the club Palmer and Cuevas.

I just really hope that this doesn't turn out to be another promising player's career ruined. You guys have LOADS of talent already. If Abramovich and Rafa aren't smart enough to have used Lukaku, I don't see how these two lads will be too different.

Why does everyone believe loaning out Lukaku was a bad thing? Torres was doing great at the beginning of the season. Then when he started to slump Sturridge was there to take his place. Meanwhile Lukaku was doing great over at West Brom and explained in an interview that the Chelsea staff AND board call him to inform him he is doing great and they ask him to improve on specific skills. Same thing is going on with De Bruyne, Courtois, and many more players. After Rafa was hired, Torres began to play well again scoring in multiple matches and when he slumped again, there was Sturridge to help out. During winter transfer window, we had two options, recall Lukaku and take him away from the great season he is having with the West Brom team and let him start off with a then slumping Chelsea in the middle of the season, or buy Ba for 7 million after selling Sturridge for 15 million. Now Torres is back at doing well and if he slumps again, there is always Ba who has proven he can start for us. Even if both strikers are not in form we have proven our midfield is capable of saving our asses as well.

People need to understand some background information on Chelsea and how they deal with their youth system before they automatically judge a couple of unsuccessful years with some players. Not every bright youth talent will succeed because he was doing great in the U21 or U18. Some just don't cut it. And yes, I still believe Lukaku needs one more year on loan.

Agree with V, best thing for Lukaku is his education at West Brom. One more year there and he will be ready to start to Chelsea.

@Vendetta

But was buying Ba a good idea? I'm just asking, because I want to be more educated in this matter. Would it have been better if they had gone for another striker? Because when Lukaku's deal ends, he's coming back to Chelsea, and he has Ba and Torres waiting there already. Unless Torres leaves, of course.

Of course buying Ba was a good idea. We are comparing an extremely talented 19 year old striker who is a bit better than Ba, but this ST has no experience in the EPL or any sort of actual experience in a top league for over 3 years. Ba would have the advantage even if Lukaku is better. Bringing Lukaku to Chelsea will just halt his performance and his development.

and recruting Ba didn't cost 40 millions :) if they want to sell him, they will win on the transaction. but i can't believe yet they let Drogba go and fired di matteo. very strange, how about Lampard ?? will he resign or not ?? if he cannot start he can be a great joker like scholes or gigs, his leading abilities are important to for the group.

Yes all these legends shouldn't have been let go but I'm happy with some of the releasing. Drogba left with a mark and his last kick for Chelsea was the one that made us reach our CL. If he stayed this season, he would have not left with such a mark. Di Matteo also had the same mark, firing him just because he had his first slump with the club was a bad idea, but Roman never wanted RDM. He was forced to hire and firing him keeps Di Matteo's heroic/legendary status in Chelsea history. As for Lampard, he might finish the season with the EL, FA Cup, or 3rd place. Plus, he has 4 or 3 goals left to be the all-time goalscorer for Chelsea. He would leave with a huge mark as well. Sealing his place as a Chelsea legend like that. Finally, the EPL has recently added a salary cap and some of the veterans are overpaid when they are all declining (excluding Cech). That is why I believe a lot of the veterans must be let go so Chelsea can usher in a new Chelsea team for the next decade.
