Chelsea have signed Borussia Dortmund wing Christian Pulisic for €64 million (£57.6m).

However, the USA international, whose Dortmund contract would have expired at the end of next season, will not move to Stamford Bridge immediately after the two clubs agreed that the player would remain on loan at Dortmund until the end of the Bundesliga season.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: "It was always Christian's dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract.

"Against this background, we have decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity.

"Christian Pulisic is a character-perfect player. I am sure that in the coming months he will do everything in his power to bring his high quality to the team and to achieve his sporting goals with his team-mates at Borussia Dortmund."

@Eden

Hazard was one of the best players in France and already hit 20 goals in Ligue 1 before he joined you. Pulisic wasn't even starting over Sancho, who broke out this season. He'll probably get better, but don't expect goals galore in his debut season is what I'm saying. His output is still greatly lacking, and he is miles behind Hazard's raw talent back in 2012.

@Dyn

I said Hazard in recent seasons, not going all the way back to Lille. Ligue 1 is a completely different story.

All these comparisons don't matter, what matters is the player's determination on the pitch, remember Salah? De Bruyne? and many others? They eventually shined and became relevant. and some others never did good outside of their club. So it all depends on the team's playing style that fits the players the manager wants. you can get the most clinical striker in the world and he wouldn't do good if he has a manager that tells him to drop to CDM because they want to play defensively the whole match. just see how Pogba was destroyed under Mourinho, Mata when Mourinho was at Chelsea, just because he doesn't track back or good defensively, ironically he had to play under him again..

Yeah, but player who are doing well there tend to adapt well to the prem.

@Emo

Not everyone though. Look at the likes of Bakayoko, Batshuayi, Di Maria.

A lot of other players do adapt, but opposition teams are definitely a lot harder in the PL than in Ligue 1.

@Eden17 Di Maria was doing better in La Liga than in Ligue 1 however, but yeah, you are right. :P
